Scene.org
Scene.org (also known as ''The International Scene Organization'') is a non-profit organization, providing the currently largest demoscene file repository. It was founded in 1996 by Jaakko "Mellow-D" Manninen, though originally it existed as ''ftp.fm.org'', an FTP-server for releases from the group Five Musicians. In 1997, it re-opened as Scene.org. After the ''Hornet Archive'' closed on September 22, 1998, scene.org became the only prominent demoscene-FTP available and quickly became the host of many other releases as well. The Scene.org servers are hosted in Rotterdam, at the local university. They measure 150-200 GB of traffic each day (as of May 2006) and host about 1.1 TB of demoscene-related data (as of June 2013). The main server is mirrored onto various others, residing in different countries. It is currently sponsored by, among others, Pixar. Andromeda Software Development
Andromeda Software Development (abbreviated ASD) is a Greek demogroup that was formed in 1992. They produced a number of small intros and demos in the mid-1990s for the PC, most notably CounterFactual (winner of the first Greek demo party ever, The Gardening 1995) and ''Beyond'' (Placed 4th in The Gardening 1996). ASD was quiet for the following years until 2001, when they presented '' Cadence & Cascade'' - their first accelerated demo - and won the Digital Nexus demoparty, held in Athens, Greece. From 2002 onwards, ASD started participating in major demoscene competitions, eventually winning the Assembly 2005 demo competition with ''Iconoclast''. Breakpoint Demo Party
Breakpoint was a German demoscene party. From 2003 to 2010, it took place annually at Easter in Bingen. Breakpoint was the successor to the legendary Mekka & Symposium. With over 1000 visitors, it was the world's biggest pure demoscene-party, attracting demosceners from not only Germany, but also from other European countries (e.g. Sweden, Finland, Poland, Spain), or even from overseas (for example Australia, Canada). The party was also the traditional host of the Scene.org Awards ceremony. History The concept of Breakpoint was born in late 2002 when internal tensions within the Mekka & Symposium organizing team made another M&S party impossible. Part of the remaining organizing team teamed up with organizers of other German demo parties like Dialogos, Evoke and the Ultimate Meeting, and decided to create a new demoscene party for Easter. Chaos Theory (demo)
Chaos Theory is a computer demo by Conspiracy released in August 2006 at Assembly. It has been realised by Gergely Szelei, Barna Buza and Zoltán Szabó. Technical description Chaos Theory is a 64K intro demo. It uses kkrunchy from farbrausch as packer. Synopsis The demo opens with three circles and a black screen. On a green foliage pattern screen the words "Conspiracy", "Assembly 2006" appear, before showing a space opera scene with "a world not of my making yet a world of my design, so strange and so familiar" text. After a quiet moment, the rhythm of the music and the speed of the graphisms accelerates, to represent chaos. A device with imbricated rings moving up and down appears briefly. Then, the demo decreases again to a more quiet pace, prints geometry patterns before a second acceleration and a repeat of the previous patterns and elements, slightly different. Moppi Productions
Moppi Productions was a Finnish-based demogroup founded in 1996. It is mainly known for their story-based demos and the demo authoring tool Demopaja. The demo ''ix'', released in 2003, won a total of three awards in the Scene.org Awards gala. Moppi is usually referred to as the " numedia" demogroup; their demos generally rely on a combination of design and effects, accented by a multitude of design element overlays. Their music is most often some sort of trip hop akin to Massive Attack or Morcheeba. They became well known on the demoscene for their streak of second places in demoparty compos: starting in 1998 they have released demos consistently placed second in their respective competitions. Farbrausch
Farbrausch, or Farb-rausch, is a German group of demogroup, demomakers who became well known in the demoscene in December 2000 with a 64k intro called "fr-08: .the .product". The demo achieved its small size through the use of procedural textures, a custom MIDI-based software synthesizer V2 (controlled through a sequencer called Logic Audio), and a modified version of UPX executable compressor, ".the .product" is an 11-minute 3D computer graphics, 3-D show featuring complex scenes of computer generated imagery. The name "Farbrausch" translates literally to "color rush", where rush means variously "intoxication, drunkenness, high, ecstasy, and state of euphoria.". Their work has won numerous awards. Horizon (Demoscene)
The horizon is the apparent line that separates the surface of a celestial body from its sky when viewed from the perspective of an observer on or near the surface of the relevant body. This line divides all viewing directions based on whether it intersects the relevant body's surface or not. The ''true horizon'' is a theoretical line, which can only be observed to any degree of accuracy when it lies along a relatively smooth surface such as that of Earth's oceans. At many locations, this line is obscured by terrain, and on Earth it can also be obscured by life forms such as trees and/or human constructs such as buildings. Instinct is the inherent inclination of a living organism towards a particular complex behaviour, containing both innate (inborn) and learned elements. The simplest example of an instinctive behaviour is a fixed action pattern (FAP), in which a very short to medium length sequence of actions, without variation, are carried out in response to a corresponding clearly defined stimulus. Any behaviour is instinctive if it is performed without being based upon prior experience (that is, in the absence of learning), and is therefore an expression of innate biological factors. The Dreams
The Dreams was a punk rock band from Tórshavn, Faroe Islands formed in 2006. They were based in Denmark along with their producer Lars Pedersen. They also have had success in the Faroe Islands, and all across Europe. Band history Early years (2003 - 2005) In 2003 in Tórshavn, friends Hans Edward Andreasen, Heini Mortensen, Heðin Egholm Skov and Edmund í Garði, formed a punk band called 'Zink'. Heðin left the band in 2004, to be replaced by Eirikur Gilstón Corfitz Andersen. In the same year, they released an album called ''Totally Love Songs'', which contained songs in both Faroese and English.
