Savigny, Aulnay-sous-Bois
Aulnay-sous-Bois () is a Communes of France, commune in the Seine-Saint-Denis department in the Île-de-France region in the north-eastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the Kilometre zero. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Aulnaysiens'' or ''Aulnaysiennes'' in French. The commune has been awarded four flowers by the ''National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom'' in the ''Competition of cities and villages in Bloom''. Geography Situation Aulnay-sous-Bois is located in the Paris area and is 19 km north-east of Notre-Dame Cathedral, 1 km east of Le Bourget Airport, and 5 km south-west of Charles de Gaulle Airport. The commune stretches over a length of 6.5 km from north to south and a width ranging from 1.4 to 4.3 km from east to west and covers an area of 1,620 hectares. John Savigny
John Horatio Savigny (25 August 1867 – 11 February 1923) was an Australian cricketer. He played thirteen first-class matches for Tasmania between 1888 and 1911. Savigny's father William Henry Savigny was headmaster of the Launceston Church Grammar School, and his brother William Savigny was a fine cricketer, playing in three matches for Tasmania against Victoria. Savigny was employed as a clerk with the Customs Department at Launceston. He died on the bank of the river Liffey near Carrick, where he had gone fishing, and apparently died while dozing. On 6 April 1891 he married Emily Henry (c. 1869 – 22 September 1930), second daughter of John Henry, Treasurer of Tasmania. She died at the family home, "Carthona", Ashby Street, Launceston. William Savigny
__NOTOC__ William Henry Savigny (17 February 1864 – 6 August 1922) was an Australian cricketer and academic. Biography Savigny was born in Sydney, the elder son of Rev. W. H. Savigny, William Henry Savigny, from 1872 headmaster of Launceston Church Grammar School, and educated at his father's school. He won a scholarship to Corpus Christi College, Oxford, Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, where he earned his BA degree in Law and a Blue (university sport), blue for rowing. While at Oxford he played two two-day matches for Shropshire County Cricket Club, Shropshire in 1885 while also playing club cricket at Shrewsbury. He played four first-class cricket, first-class matches for Tasmania cricket team, Tasmania between 1888 and 1896. Marie Jules César Savigny
Marie Jules César Lelorgne de Savigny (; 5 April 1777 – 5 October 1851) was a French zoologist. Savigny was born at Provins. In 1798 he travelled to Egypt with the Emperor Napoleon as part of the French scientific expedition to that country, and contributed to the publication of the findings of the expedition in 1809 (''Description de l'Égypte''; published more fully in 1822). He wrote about the fauna in the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. He is also known for proposing a theory that the mouth-parts of insects are homologous with locomotory organs (e.g. legs). Education and travel to Egypt At age 16, Savigny traveled from his home of Provins, in the department of Seine et Marne, to Paris to finish his studies. Friedrich Carl Von Savigny
Friedrich Carl von Savigny (21 February 1779 – 25 October 1861) was a German jurist and historian. Early life and education Savigny was born at Frankfurt am Main, of a family recorded in the history of Lorraine, deriving its name from the castle of Savigny near Charmes in the valley of the Moselle. Left as orphan at the age of 13, Savigny was brought up by a guardian until, in 1795, he entered the University of Marburg, where, though in poor health, he studied under Professors Anton Bauer and Philipp Friedrich Weiss, the former a pioneer in the reform of the German criminal law, the latter distinguished for his knowledge of medieval jurisprudence. After the fashion of German students, Savigny visited several universities, notably Jena, Leipzig and Halle; and returning to Marburg, took his doctorate in 1800. Savigny-sur-Orge (, literally ''Savigny on Orge'') is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 19.1 km (11.9 mi) from the center of Paris in the département of Essonne. During the 2005 civil unrest in France, Savigny was the first city to implement a curfew. It is home to the Jean-Baptiste Corot High School, a twelfth-century château converted into a school and the former property of Marshal Davout. Inhabitants of Savigny-sur-Orge are known as ''Saviniens''. Writer Patrick Erouart-Siad (born 1955 in Savigny) won the 1993 Prix Ève Delacroix of the Académie française.
