Satsang Ashram
Satsang Ashram is the headquarters of the Satsang movement started by Thakur Anukulchandra in India and across the world. The Satsang Ashram has become a major place of attraction in Deoghar for all kinds of people in the society. The township surrounding the ashram is known as Satsang Nagar and has a dedicated Indian railways passenger halt for the ease of devotees visiting the place. Satsang (Deoghar)
Satsang is a philanthropic organization founded by Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra. It is one of the major spiritual and cultural movements in India started in the early 20th century. Satsang was originally registered in Pabna (British India) in 1925 as a public charitable institution. However, after the Independence and partition of India, it was again registered in 1951 in the Indian Union under the Societies Registration act of 1860. Its headquarters was established as Satsang Ashram at Deoghar, Jharkhand (then Bihar) after Thakur Anukulchandra moved to Deoghar from his birthplace in the Pabna District of East Bengal (now Bangladesh) on September 2, 1946. At present Satsang has more than two thousand branches located in India, Bangladesh, Burma, Europe, Middle East, Africa and America. Thakur Anukulchandra
Anukulchandra Chakravarty (14 September 1888 – 27 January 1969), popularly known as Sree Sree Thakur, was a physician, a philosopher, a spiritual leader and the founder of Satsang (Deoghar), Satsang, in Deoghar. He was born in a Brahmin family Early life and service Anukulchandra Chakravarty was born in the Hemayetpur, Himaitpur village of Pabna district of , British India which is now a part of Bangladesh. Sivachandra Chakravarty and Monomohini Devi were his father and mother respectively. As a young medical student in Calcutta, Anukulchandra started serving and treating the slum dwellers in 1911. After six years of study, he came back to Himaitpur and began to practice medicine. In 1913, Anukulchandra was spiritually initiated by his mother. Deoghar (pronounced ''Devaghar'') is a major city in Jharkhand, India. It is a holy sacred place of Hinduism. It is one of the 12 ''Jyotirlinga''s sites of Hinduism (Baidyanath Temple). A satsanga (), also rendered satsang, refers to the practice of gathering in the company of good people for the performance of devotional activities. It also refers to an audience with a Satguru for yogic instruction. Satsangas are group events, organised by various spiritual organisations. ''Anandabazar Patrika'' (Bengali: আনন্দবাজার পত্রিকা, ) is an Indian Bengali-language daily newspaper owned by the ABP Group. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it has a circulation of 1 million copies as of December 2019. Its main competitors are ''Bartaman'', ''Ei Samay'', and ''Sangbad Pratidin''.
