''Amistad'' is a 1997 American historical drama film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the events in 1839 aboard the Spanish slave ship ''La Amistad'', during which Mende tribesmen abducted for the slave trade managed to gain control of their captors' ship off the coast of Cuba, and the international legal battle that followed their capture by the ''Washington'', a U.S. revenue cutter. Takashi "Tak" Fujimoto, ASC (born July 12, 1939) is an American cinematographer. Fujimoto was born in San Diego, California. He is of Japanese descent. During World War II, he was interned at the Poston War Relocation Center due to Executive Order 9066. A graduate of the London Film School, he has worked with filmmakers Jonathan Demme, M. John Toll
John Toll, (born June 15, 1952) is an American cinematographer and television producer. Toll's filmography spans a wide variety of genres, including epic period drama, comedy, science fiction, and contemporary drama. It is the second screen adaptation of the 1962 novel of the same name by James Jones, following the 1964 film. Dante Spinotti, A.S.C., A.I.C. (born 22 August 1943) is an Italian cinematographer and a member of the board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
