''Sarungal (Kites)'' ( si, සරුංගල්) is a 2018 Sri Lankan Sinhala drama, romantic film directed by Nalaka Vithanage and co-produced by Tharanga Athuraliya and A. Parister for Niro Films. It stars Charith Abeysinghe and newcomer Chamathka Lakmini in lead roles along with Saranga Disasekara and Soorya Dayaruwan. Music composed by Ranga Dasanayake. It is the 1317th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. The film received mixed reviews from critics. Plot A young girl Asanki (Chamathka) spending the night in a nightclub. Amila (Charith) is a young man looking at Asanki. Unbeknownst to Amila, Asanki too, been sighed and sat next to her. Asanki is in the midst of a tough situation about her marital relationship with Bhanuka (Saranga). Amila is also in a similar situation with his wife Duleeka (Shalika). The two shared their sadness. Nalaka Vithanage
Nalaka Vithanage is a filmmaker of Sri Lankan cinema, theater and television. He is the son of popular dramatist Bandula Vithanage. Personal life Nalaka was born on 16 February. He was educated at Nalanda College Colombo and has been keenly interested and involved with his passion for stage and teledrama creations and film making while at school. He completed his higher studies in commerce and business studies. In 2001 he went New Zealand for further studies. He returned Sri Lanka in 2004. His father Bandula Vithanage was a renowned dramatist in Sri Lanka who had a career that spanned for more than five decades. Vithanage is one of the earliest pillars of Sri Lankan art and drama, where he is the pioneer to introduce Shakespearean theater to Sri Lankan theater with several plays such as ''Veniciye Velenda'', ''Macbeth'', ''Twelfth Night'', ''Hamlet'' and ''Romeo and Juliet''. Saranga Disasekara ( si, සාරංග දිසාසේකර) (born 31 January 1983) is a Sri Lankan actor, singer, model and a host by profession. Saranga was awarded the most popular television actor in Sri Lanka award at Sumathi Awards, Raigam Tele'es and SLIM-Nielsen Peoples Awards in several times. Currently he is hosting Sri Lanka's most popular reality programme ''Hiru Star''. Personal life Saranga Disasekara was born on 31 January 1983 in Kalubowila, Sri Lanka, to singer Narada Disasekara, and radio host and actress Tileka Ranasinghe.
