Sarufutsu, Hokkaido
is a village located in Sōya Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. As of September 2014, the village has an estimated population of 2,884 and a density of 4.91 persons per km². The total area is 590.00 km². Geography Sarufutsu is the northernmost village in Japan and is the largest village in Hokkaido in area. Scallop () is a common name that encompasses various species of marine bivalve mollusks in the taxonomic family Pectinidae, the scallops. is a town located in Sōya Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. There is a JR train station, Horonobe Station which connects Horonobe-town with other cities in Hokkaido. The word Horonobe originates from Poro-Nup. In Ainu language, poro means large and nup mean grassland, thus meaning a large uncultivated land.
