Jussi Antero Saramo (born 9 July 1979 in Porvoon maalaiskunta) is a Finnish politician who serves in the Parliament of Finland for the Left Alliance at the Uusimaa constituency. He was elected to office in the 2019 Finnish parliamentary election, and served as Minister of Education while party leader Li Andersson was on maternity leave. Prior to his election to parliament, Saramo served as an executive on the board of multiple Finnish organisations including Veikkaus and Keva KEVA (1240 AM) was a radio station broadcasting from Evanston, Wyoming. Li Andersson
Li Sigrid Andersson (born 13 May 1987) is a Finnish politician who has been serving as Minister of Education since 2019. The leader of the Left Alliance, she has been a Member of Parliament since 2015. She is also the city councilor of Turku and was the chair of the party's youth wing, Left Youth. Education Andersson graduated from Åbo Akademi University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in international law, specializing in international human rights law and refugee law, with a minor in Russian language and culture. Uusimaa is a Constituencies of Finland, Finnish constituency represented in Parliament of Finland, eduskunta. It covers the administrative region of Uusimaa, excluding the capital city of Helsinki, which forms Helsinki (constituency), its own constituency. The Left Alliance ( fi, Vasemmistoliitto , sv, Vänsterförbundet, vas.) is a left-wing political party in Finland. The Left Alliance was founded in 1990 as the chief successor of the left-wing Finnish People's Democratic League (SKDL). Although not as electorally successful as the SKDL, it has achieved some success, typically receiving around eight to ten percent of the vote in parliamentary elections. 2019 Finnish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 14 April 2019. For the first time, no party received more than 20% of the vote. The Centre Party, which had been the largest party following the 2015 elections, dropped to fourth place, losing 18 seats and recording its lowest vote share since 1917. The Social Democratic Party saw the biggest gains, winning six more seats and narrowly becoming the largest party for the first time since 1999. The Green League and the Left Alliance also gained five and four seats respectively. Veikkaus
Veikkaus Oy is the Finnish government-owned betting agency which holds a monopoly in the country. It was formed in 2017 as a merger of three previously existing betting and gambling agencies of Veikkaus, Fintoto and Finland's Slot Machine Association. In January 2019, Veikkaus announced a plan to reduce its workforce by around 400 positions, while also announcing "significant overhauls of our gaming locations and an end to the restaurant gaming table business".
