Sarah LeBrun Ingram
Sarah LeBrun Ingram (née LeBrun, born 1965/1966) is an American amateur golfer, a member of the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame and the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. She is a former All-American golfer at Duke University who became a three-time winner of the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur. Ingram represented the U.S. on the Curtis Cup team in 1992, 1994 and 1996. She is a member of the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame. In 1993, '' Golf Digest'', ''Golfweek'' and ''Golf World'' named her either number one amateur or Amateur Player of the Year. At age 30, despite winning many titles, she made the decision not to turn pro. She gave up her golf career because she wanted to raise a family and also because of a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Garrison Forest School (GFS) is a non-denominational private college preparatory boarding and day school located on a campus in Owings Mills, Maryland. GFS offers kindergarten through 12th grade for girls as well as a co-educational program for pre-K. 1994 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 1994 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 28 September – 1 October at Le Golf National in Guyancourt south-west of Paris, France. It was the 16th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy and 30-year anniversary of the inaugural event in 1964, which also was held in France, close to Paris. At the time of the 1994 championship, its initiator in 1964, Lally Segard, retired from her position, after serving for 30 years, as chairperson of the women's committee of the organizing World Amateur Golf Council, when the championship returned to her home town. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 29 team entries, each with three players. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. The 1992 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 24–27 September at Marine Drive Golf Club in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was the 15th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 31 team entries, each with up to three players. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. The Spain team won the Trophy and their second title, beating the combined team of Great Britain & Ireland by one stroke. Great Britain & Ireland earned the silver medal while the New Zealand team took the bronze on third place another eight strokes back. Espirito Santo Trophy
The Espirito Santo Trophy (World Women's Amateur Team Championships) is a biennial world amateur team golf championship for women organised by the International Golf Federation. The inaugural event was held in 1964. It was instituted by the French Golf Federation in an agreement with the United States Golf Association. It was planned by Lally Segard, at the time known as Vicomtesse de Saint Sauveur, from France and Mrs. Henri Prunaret from America. Segard also asked her friends Ricardo and Silvia Espirito Santo, from Portugal, to donate a trophy for the event, which they did. They had originally bought the golden cup, which had belonged to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, for an international Portuguese event that was not played anymore. 2022 Curtis Cup
The 42nd Curtis Cup Match was played from June 10–12, 2022 at Merion Golf Club, Ardmore, Pennsylvania. It was played less than a year after the previous contest, at Conwy Golf Club in 2021, which had been delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The USA team retained the Curtis Cup by a score of 15 to 4. Format The contest is a three-day competition, with three foursomes and three fourball matches on each of the first two days, and eight singles matches on the final day, a total of 20 points. Each of the 20 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match ends all square after the 18th hole extra holes were not played. Rather, each side earned point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 10 points won the competition. In the event of a tie, the current holder retains the Cup. 2021 Curtis Cup
The 41st Curtis Cup Match was played from 26–28 August 2021 at Conwy Golf Club near Conwy, Wales. It was originally scheduled for 12–14 June 2020 but was postponed to 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Great Britain & Ireland had the better of the first day and led to by 4 points to 1 points at the end of the day. The USA team levelled the match at 6 points a piece by the end of the second day. The third day singles matches were initially very tight but ultimately, most of the matches swung toward the USA team and they secured 6 points of the 8 available. The USA team retained the Curtis Cup with a total score of 12 to 7 for the GB&I team. It was the USA's first away win in the contest since 2008. The Women's Western Amateur is an amateur golf tournament for women. It is organized by the Women's Western Golf Association, which also organized the Women's Western Open from 1930 to 1967. It is one of the oldest women's amateur tournaments in the United States, having been played since 1901. Canadian Women's Amateur
The Canadian Women's Amateur is Canada's annual national amateur golf tournament for women. It is open to women from all countries and is played at a different course each year. History The first championship was held from October 14 to 17, 1901 at Royal Montreal Golf Club. The 50 or so entries played 18 holes of stroke play on the first afternoon, after which the leading eight ladies played three rounds of 18-hole match play on the following three days. Local member Lily Young had the best score on the first day, 99. Scorers of 107 and better reached the quarter-finals. Consolation events were organised for those not in the leading eight. In golf, par is the predetermined number of strokes that a proficient (scratch, or zero handicap) golfer should require to complete a hole, a round (the sum of the pars of the played holes), or a tournament (the sum of the pars of each round).
