Sapporo Kinen
The Sapporo Kinen (Japanese 札幌記念) is a Grade 2 Handicap horse race for Thoroughbreds aged three and over run in August over a distance of 2,000 metres at Sapporo Racecourse. It was first run in 1965 and was promoted to Grade 3 in 1984. The race was elevated to Grade 2 class in 1997. The race serves as a trial race for the autumn edition of the Tenno Sho. is located in Chūō-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. It was built in 1907 for horse racing use. It has 12,000 seats, with a capacity of 30,000. Air Groove
Air Groove (in Japanese: エアグルーヴ, foaled April 6th, 1993 ~ April 23rd, 2013) is a Japanese racehorse and the winner of the 1996 Yushun Himba. Career Air Groove's first race was on October 29, 1995, at the Icho Stakes, where she came in first. She came in 2nd place at the Grade-1 1995 Hopeful Stakes. She started off the 1996 season with a win at the 1996 Tulip Sho in March. She then won the first of his multiple Grade-1 wins by winning the 1996 Yushun Himba. Her next victory came almost a year later, when she captured the July 1997 Grade-3 Mermaid Stakes. This win sparked a three race win streak that saw her win the 1996 Sapporo Kinen and the 1996 Grade-1 Tenno Sho. Hokuto Vega (in Japanese: ホクトベガ, March 26, 1990 – April 3, 1997) was a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 1993 Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Career Hokuto Vega's first race was on January 5, 1993, at Nakayama, where he came in first. She picked up her next win at the 1993 Cattleya Sho on February 20. She competed in her first graded race on March 20, 1993, when she won the 1993 Flower Cup. This win helped her gain entry into the 1993 Oka Sho, where she came in 5th place. On May 23, 1993, she competed in the Grade-1 Yushun Himba, where she came in 6th. She came in 2nd place at the October 3, 1993, Grade-3 Queen Stakes. Hakodate Racecourse
is a horse racing track in Hakodate, Japan, built in 1896. During the period between 2008 and 2009, Hakodate Racecourse was closed for renovation and refurbishment of the grandstand. Work was completed in June 2010. As part of this refurbishment, Mitsubishi Electric installed a Diamond Vision Screen. Sodashi ( ja, ソダシ, link=no foaled 8 March 2018) is a pure white Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2021 Japanese 1000 Guineas. She was also one of the best two-year-olds in Japan in 2020 when she was unbeaten in four races including the Sapporo Nisai Stakes, Artemis Stakes and Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. In 2021 she won the Oka Sho but sustained her first defeat when running unplaced in the Yushun Himba. The filly returned to the track in August and defeated older rivals in the Sapporo Kinen. Normcore ( ja, ノームコア, link=no foaled 25 February 2015) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed promising form in her first two seasons, winning both of her races as a juvenile in 2017 and taking the Grade 3 Shion Stakes in the following year. As a four-year-old she recorded a Grade 1 success in the Victoria Mile as well as taking the Fuji Stakes. After winning his only start as a two-year-old he improved to become the best colt of his generation in Japan in the following year. Christophe Lemaire
Christophe Patrice Lemaire (Japanese:, born 20 May 1979) is a French-born jockey. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017. Career Lemaire began racing in 1999, after he obtained the license required for a French jockey.
