Sanremo Music Festival 1996
The Sanremo Music Festival 1996 was the 46th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia, in the late February 1996 and broadcast by Rai 1. The show was presented by Pippo Baudo, who also served as the artistic director, with actress Sabrina Ferilli and model Valeria Mazza. The winners of the Big Artists section were Ron and Tosca with the song "Vorrei incontrarti fra cent'anni", while Syria won the "New Proposals" section with the song "Non ci sto". In this edition the Critics Award was named after Mia Martini (who died the year before). It was awarded to the song "La terra dei cachi" by Elio e le Storie Tese. Bruce Springsteen opened the first night of the Festival performing, out of competition, the song "The Ghost of Tom Joad". Pippo Baudo
Giuseppe Vittorio Raimondo Baudo (born 7 June 1936), known as Pippo Baudo, is one of the most famous Italian television presenters, with a career spanning six decades. He is often nicknamed "Superpippo" (referencing the Italian name of Super Goof). Baudo has also been the artistic director and president of the Teatro Stabile di Catania. Career Baudo was born in Militello in Val di Catania. While studying law at the University of Catania, he became involved in entertainment as an actor and host. He also learned to play the piano. He graduated with a degree in law, despite his interest in entertainment. At the end of the 1950s, he became a singer and pianist for Orchestra Moonlight. Ambra Angiolini (born 22 April 1977, in Rome) is an Italian actress and singer. Paola Turci (born 12 September 1964 in Rome), is an Italian singer, songwriter, performer and author. 1980s Turci's musical debut was in 1986 when she participated in Sanremo Music Festival with the song "L'uomo di ieri", written by Mario Castelnuovo The song appeared in her first album ''Ragazza sola ragazza blu''. Pasquale Panella (born 12 January 1950) is an Italian lyricist, playwright, poet and novelist. He sometimes used the pen names Duchesca and Vanera. Life and career Panella was born in Rome. Amedeo Minghi (born 12 August 1947) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer and producer. Life and career Born in Rome, Minghi started his career in the mid-1960s participating in a large number of musical contests, and then making his professional debut in 1966 with the single "Alla fine", with lyrics by Mogol. Aleandro Baldi (born 11 April 1959) is an Italian singer-songwriter and composer. Life and career Born in Greve in Chianti, Florence as Aleandro Civai, blind, Baldi began playing the guitar as an autodidact while he was at the Reggio Emilia College for the Blind. Claudio Mattone (born 28 February 1943) is an Italian composer, lyricist and music producer. Born in Santa Maria a Vico, Caserta, Mattone approached music at young age, as a jazz pianist. Neri per Caso are an Italian a cappella musical group. Career The group formed in Salerno as Crecason in 1991 and consisted of six elements: Diego and Ciro Caravano (brothers), their cousins Mimì and Gonzalo Caravano (also brothers), Mario Crescenzo and Massimo De Divitiis.
