Sankt Eriksplan
Sankt Eriksplan is a square in the district of Vasastaden in Stockholm, Sweden. History ''Saint Erik's Plaza'' was called so after King Erik IX who is the patron saint of Stockholm and depicted in the city's coat of arms. Sankt Eriksplan metro station was opened in 1952 and is on the green line between Odenplan and Fridhemsplan. Popular venues close to Sankt Eriksplan include Filadelfiakyrkan ('the Philadelphia Church') which offers frequent concerts. Nearby is the riverside park of Karlberg Palace () which was built in 1630. It is in sight of the Military Academy Karlberg which was inaugurated in 1792. Sankt Eriksplan is a popular and expensive residential area, with apartment prices being among the most expensive in Stockholm. Vasastaden, or colloquially Vasastan, ( Swedish for "Vasa town") is a 3.00 km2 large city district in central Stockholm, Sweden, being a part of Norrmalm borough. Eric IX Of Sweden
Eric IX, ( Swedish: ''Erik Jedvardsson; Erik den helige; Sankt Erik''; d. 18 May 1160) also called Eric the Holy, Saint Eric, and Eric the Lawgiver, was a Swedish king in the 12th century, 1156–1160. The ''Roman Martyrology'' of the Catholic Church names him as a saint memorialized on 18 May. He was the founder of the House of Eric, which ruled Sweden with interruptions from c. 1156 to 1250. Background As later kings from the House of Eric were consistently buried at Varnhem Abbey near Skara in Västergötland, Eric's family is considered to have Geatish roots like other medieval ruling houses in Sweden. Osteological investigations of Eric's remains suggest that he may have lived the last 10–15 years of his life in Västergötland rather than in Uppland where he died. Odenplan is a plaza located in the district Vasastaden in central Stockholm, Sweden. History Odenplan was named after the old Norse god Odin. Fridhemsplan
Fridhemsplan is a square at the intersection of Fridhemsgatan and Drottningholmsvägen in the districts of Kungsholmen and Marieberg in Stockholm, Sweden. Description The name Fridhemsplan was given 1935, after the major street ''Fridhemsgatan'' crossing the area. Before that, the area was simply known as Kungsholmen toll station. At Fridhemsplan metro station, the blue and the green lines of the Stockholm Metro intersect. The green line had a station on Fridhemsplan, and in 1975, the blue line was completed. Filadelfiakyrkan
('the Philadelphia Church') is a Pentecostal church building at Rörstrandsgatan 7 in Stockholm, Sweden; it was dedicated on 2 November 1930. The building is owned by the Filadelfia Stockholm congregation, the largest congregation in the Swedish Pentecostal movement with about 5,400 members as of 2015. It is also the largest Pentecostal congregation in Europe. The Stockholm City Museum has listed the building as having a particularly high historical and cultural value. The church building is next to Rörstrand Castle, where Kaggeholm Folk High School has been located since 2019. Karlberg Palace () is a palace by the Karlberg Canal in Solna Municipality in Sweden, adjacent to Stockholm's Vasastaden district. Military Academy Karlberg ( sv, Militärhögskolan Karlberg, MHS K) is a Swedish military academy, since its inauguration in 1792 in operation in the Karlberg Palace in Solna, just north of central Stockholm.
