Sandy Lee
Sandy Lee (born 1964) is a South Korean-born-Canadian lawyer and politician, who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories from 1999 to 2011. Political career Territorial Assembly Lee was elected to the legislature for the first time in the 1999 Northwest Territories general election, defeating future MLA Dave Ramsay and another candidate. She was re-elected to her second term in office in the 2003 Northwest Territories general election, winning with a landslide 80 per cent of the vote. Lee was the Minister for Health and Social Services, Status of Women and Disabilities. 2011 federal election On March 26, 2011, Lee resigned as MLA so she could run in the 2011 federal election for the Conservatives in the Western Arctic. Lee was appointed by the executive of the territorial Conservative association. Her appointment caused upset among some of the regular members of the association. John Pollard (politician)
John Pollard is a businessman and former politician from Hay River, Northwest Territories, Canada. He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories from 1987 until 1995, serving as Minister of Finance. Pollard was elected to the Northwest Territories Legislature for the first time in the 1987 Northwest Territories general election, representing the Hay River electoral district. Pollard was returned by acclamation in the 1991 Northwest Territories general election. He retired from legislative politics at the end of his second term in 1995. In October 2006 he was elected mayor of Hay River. However, he resigned in January 2008, citing the combined workload of the position and the management of his own business interests. |

Dennis Bevington
Dennis Fraser Bevington (born March 27, 1953) is a Canadian politician from the Northwest Territories, and was the member of Parliament for the riding of Northwest Territories from 2006 until 2015. Born in Fort Smith, he served as mayor from 1988 to 1997. During Bevington's term at the head of council, Fort Smith recognized the Chipewyan and Cree languages, making the town officially quadrilingual. A businessman, Bevington has long been active on environmental issues. In the 2000 federal election he ran as the NDP candidate for Western Arctic, but lost by 18% to incumbent Ethel Blondin-Andrew. Bevington ran again in the 2004 election, losing to Blondin-Andrew by only 53 votes, one of the closest races of the election.
