Sandane is the administrative centre of the municipality of Gloppen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located at the end of the Gloppefjorden, along the European route E39 highway. Sandane is south of the village of Nordfjordeid and about west of the village of Byrkjelo. Sandane Airport, Anda is located northwest of Sandane along highway E39. Sandane has several suburban areas that surround the nearby fjord such as Sørstranda to the west and Vereide to the northwest. Sandane Airport, Anda
Sandane Airport ( no, Sandane lufthavn; ) is a regional airport serving the village of Sandane in Vestland county, Norway. It perpendicularly straddles the Anda peninsula in Gloppen Municipality between the Nordfjorden and Gloppefjorden. The airport has an asphalt runway measuring and aligned 09/27. Services are provided by Widerøe on public service obligation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The airport is owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor and served 37,272 passengers in 2013. The airport was opened on 1 July 1975 as the only public airport serving Nordfjord, four years after the other regional airports in Sogn og Fjordane county. Gloppen
Gloppen is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. Gloppen is generally subdivided into three areas: Hyen in the west, Gloppen in the center, and Breim in the east. Each of the areas have their own main service centres. Sandane, the administrative centre of the municipality, is the largest with about 2,500 inhabitants. Sandane, Vereide, and Sørstranda are centered on the Gloppefjorden in Gloppen in the central part of the municipality. The villages of Byrkjelo, Re, Kandal, and Egge are centered on the lake Breimsvatnet in the Breim area in the east. Sandane Church
Sandane Church ( no, Sandane kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sandane at the southern end of the Gloppefjorden. It is one of the four churches for the Gloppen parish which is part of the Nordfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1997 by the architect Helge Hjertholm. The church seats about 300 people. Gloppefjorden
Gloppefjorden or Gloppenfjorden is a fjord in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The long fjord flows from the village of Sandane in the southeast to its mouth at the Nordfjorden in the northwest. The river Gloppeelva is the primary inflow on the fjord. The river comes from the large lake Breimsvatnet. The wide fjord has a lot of settlements along the inner parts of the fjord, especially on the eastern side of the fjord. Vereide
Vereide is a village in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located along the central part of the eastern shore of the Gloppefjorden, along the European route E39 highway. It sits about northwest of the municipal center of Sandane and about southeast of Sandane Airport, Anda. Vereide Church is located in this village, right on the shore of the fjord. There is some development right along the fjord, but due to the relatively steep hill, most development is located higher up on rather flat area further inland. Nordfjordeid
Nordfjordeid is the administrative centre of the municipality of Stad in Vestland county, western Norway. It is located at the end of the Eidsfjorden, an arm off of the main Nordfjorden, west of the large lake Hornindalsvatnet. The village of Stårheim is located about to the west, the village of Mogrenda is about to the east, and the village of Lote is about to the southeast. The town is a commercial hub for the municipality and greater Nordfjord region. It includes several industries, such as timber, agriculture, electronics and commerce. Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. Breimsvatn or Breimsvatnet is a lake in the municipalities of Gloppen and Sunnfjord in Vestland county, Norway. At , it is the largest lake in Gloppen (followed by the lake Emhjellevatnet). The European route E39 highway runs along the north end of the lake, connecting the two nearby areas of Sandane and Byrkjelo.
