San Pitch Mountains
The San Pitch Mountains are a longUtah, DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer, p. 34-35. mountain range located in Juab and Sanpete counties in central Utah, United States.} __TOC__ Description The range's southwest lies adjacent a north-flowing stretch of the Sevier River, as it transitions north, northwest, west, and then southwest into the Sevier Desert. The river traverses around the adjacent mountain ranges of the Valley and Canyon Mountains. The range is north-south trending and located between the Juab Valley west and the Sanpete Valley east. Yuba State Park is in the south of Juab Valley and borders the range's southwest, on the Sevier River. The San Pitch Mountains are the location of Maple Canyon, which along with adjoining Box Canyon is an internationally famous rock climbing area, due to the composition of the rock walls being a conglomerate, with hundreds of routes of widely varying difficulty. Moroni ( ) is a city in Sanpete County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,423 at the 2010 census. State Route 132 (SR-132) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. It connects U.S. Route 6 (US-6) in Lynndyl to US-89 at Pigeon Hollow Junction, crossing Interstate 15 (I-15) in Nephi. Levan, Utah
Levan ( ) is a town in Juab County, Utah, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 841, and in 2018 the estimated population was 924 (an eight year increase of 9.9%). It is often said that the name of the town derives from its location near the center of Utah, because the name is "navel" spelled backwards. Conglomerate () is a clastic sedimentary rock that is composed of a substantial fraction of rounded to subangular gravel-size clasts. A conglomerate typically contains a matrix of finer-grained sediments, such as sand, silt, or clay, which fills the interstices between the clasts. The clasts and matrix are typically cemented by calcium carbonate, iron oxide, silica, or hardened clay. Conglomerates form by the consolidation and lithification of gravel. They can be found in sedimentary rock sequences of all ages but probably make up less than 1 percent by weight of all sedimentary rocks. Maple Canyon is a canyon in the northeastern San Pitch Mountains in northern Sanpete County, Utah, United States Nearly all of the canyon, except the western end, is located within the Uinta National Forest. The mouth of the canyon is in the northwestern Sanpete Valley, south of Fountain Green and just northwest of the unincorporated community of Freedom, at an elevation of . Yuba State Park
Yuba State Park is a state park on the Sevier Bridge Reservoir (also known as Yuba Reservoir) in Juab and Sanpete counties in central Utah, United States. Description The park is located approximately south of Nephi. Recreational opportunities include camping, boating, swimming, fishing, and nearby off highway vehicle riding. History Yuba State Park got its name from the individuals who built the dam. Local farmers and ranchers had to build the dam themselves or risk losing their water rights. The men working on the structure called it the U.B. Dam. As they worked they sang a song that stated they were damned if they worked and damned if they didn't. The phonetic sound of the reservoir's name was eventually spelled Yuba. Canyon Mountains
The Canyon Mountains are a long mountain range located in the northeast corner of Millard County, Utah; the range is bisected north-south with a southeast border section of Juab County, Utah, Juab County. The Canyon Mountains are part of the north section of the Fishlake National Forest, but the west of the range borders the northeast of the Sevier Desert, and the adjacent Sevier River. Geography The range is a small Basin and Range Province section of mountains that merge into the smaller Gilson Mountains north traversed by Utah route 132. Sevier Desert
The Sevier Desert is a large arid section of central-west Utah, United States, and is located in the southeast of the Great Basin. It is bordered by deserts north, west, and south; its east border is along the mountain range and valley sequences at the perimeter of the Great Basin, with the large north–south Wasatch Range and its associated mountainous landforms. Its eastern border is specifically, the East Tintic, Gilson, and Canyon Mountains; also the massive Pahvant Range. The Sevier Desert contains the course of the Sevier River in a circuitous manner.
