San Marino In The Junior Eurovision Song Contest
San Marino has participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest three times since their debut in the contest. San Marino RTV (SMRTV), a member organisation of the European Broadcasting Union, is responsible for San Marino's participation. History San Marino had previously attempted to participate in the contest in 2011, in Yerevan, Armenia, however the national broadcaster withdrew before the contest as they had not found a representative in time. In 2013 and 2015, San Marino selected its entrant in an internally, while in 2014 it used "Vocine nuove Castrocaro" a selection. San Marino made its debut in the contest in in Kyiv, Ukraine. Radiotelevisione della Repubblica di San Marino, commonly known as San Marino RTV (abbreviated SMRTV), is the public service broadcaster of San Marino. On 13 June 2011, San Marino RTV changed its name to SMtv San Marino. In November 2013, the name was changed back to San Marino RTV. The broadcaster currently operates two television channels (San Marino RTV and San Marino RTV Sport) and two radio stations (Radio San Marino and Radio San Marino Classic). Junior Eurovision Song Contest
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest (often shortened to JESC, Junior Eurovision or Junior EuroSong) is an international song competition which has been organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) annually since 2003. It is held in a different European city each year, however the same city can host the contest more than once. The competition has many similarities to the Eurovision Song Contest from which its name is taken. Each participating broadcaster sends an act, the members of which are aged 9 to 14 on the day of the contest, and an original song lasting three minutes at most to compete against the other participating entries. Each entry represents the country served by the participating broadcaster.
