San Giovanni Battista, Lecco
San Giovanni Battista is a Roman Catholic church building located in the frazione of Chiuso of the town of Lecco, region of Lombardy, Italy. It is sometimes referred to as the ''Chiesa del Beato Serafino''. History The present church was built atop the foundations of an earlier 13th century. It underwent several refurbishments in the 17th century. The sacristy was built at this time. The church and town were often damaged by fighting at the frontier between the Duchy of Milan and the Republic of Venice. The present façade, the bell tower and the interior were last updated in the 19th century. The apse has a 15th-century fresco cycle, depicting ''Christ Pantocrater'' and the Doctors and prophets of the Church above a Crucifixion, attributed to Giovan Pietro da Cemmo. Near this church is the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta noted by Alessandro Manzoni as the site of the ''Conversione dell'Inominato'' (Conversion of the Unnamed) in his novel of I Promessi Sposi. Lecco
Lecco (, , ; lmo, label=Lecchese, Lècch ) is a city of 48,131 inhabitants in Lombardy, northern Italy, north of Milan. It lies at the end of the south-eastern branch of Lake Como (the branch is named ''Branch of Lecco'' / ''Ramo di Lecco''). The Bergamo Alps rise to the north and east, cut through by the Valsassina of which Lecco marks the southern end. The lake narrows to form the river Adda, so bridges were built to improve road communications with Como and Milan. There are four bridges crossing the river Adda in Lecco: the Azzone Visconti Bridge (1336–1338), the Kennedy Bridge (1956), the Alessandro Manzoni Bridge (1985), and a railroad bridge. Casimiro Radice (15 December 1834 – 1908) was an Italian painter. Biography Radice was born in Milan, Italy. He lived modestly managing a small hotel in the town of Galbiate end died poor. Was self-educated as a painter and painted interesting and graceful works of sacred and genre subjects, in both fresco and oil. In 1881, at the Milan Exhibition, he exhibited with good success ''La visita alla nutrice,'' admired by the public''.'' Still in Milan, in 1883, he displayed ''Supplizio di Tantalo'' and ''Cestello di fiori,'' very well done.
