San Felices De Los Gallegos
San Felices de los Gallegos is a village and large municipality in the province of Salamanca, western Spain, part of the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is located 102 kilometers from the provincial capital city of Salamanca and has a population of 442 people, with a 2017 Wolfram Alpha estimate placing it at 427. It is situated within the Arribes del Duero Natural Park. History As a result of the Treaty of Alcañices in 1297 the village became part of the Kingdom of Portugal, with the name of ''São Felix de Galegos'', along with other Spanish towns: Hermisende (''Ermesende'' in Portuguese), Salvaterra de Miño (''Salvaterra do Minho''), Olivenza (''Olivença''; including the current municipality of Táliga). The Portuguese held San Felices de los Gallegos until 1327 and occupied it briefly c. 1370 and again c. 1476. Geography The municipality covers an area of 81 km². Olivenza
Olivenza () or Olivença () is a town in southwestern Spain, near the Portuguese border, on a historically disputed section of the Portugal–Spain border. Its territory is administered by Spain as a municipality belonging to the province of Badajoz, and to the wider autonomous community of Extremadura. The town of Olivença was under Portuguese sovereignty continuously between 1297 ( Treaty of Alcañices) and 1801, when it was occupied by Spain during the War of the Oranges and ceded that year under the Treaty of Badajoz. Spain has since administered the territory (now split into two municipalities, Olivenza and also Táliga), whereas Portugal invokes the self-revocation of the Treaty of Badajoz, plus the Treaty of Vienna of 1815, to claim the return of the territory. Arribes Del Duero Natural Park
Arribes del Duero Natural Park is a protected area in western Spain, covering 106.105 ha in the autonomous community of Castile and León. In this area the river Duero forms the national boundary between Spain and Portugal, and the Portuguese side is also protected under the Douro International Natural Park. The most notable characteristics of this natural space are its biodiversity and range of watercourses, which have eroded deep valleys and vertiginous precipices.
