Samuel Denny Street
Samuel Denny Street (May 16, 1752 – December 11, 1830) was an English-born lawyer and political figure in New Brunswick. He represented Sunbury County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1795 to 1802 and from 1809 to 1816. Career Youth and military service He was born in Southwark, the son of Thomas Street and Ann Lee. Street apprenticed with a London attorney and practiced law for a time before joining the Royal Navy. During his time in the navy he served under Lieutenant-General Thomas Gage at Boston. After his discharge from the navy he went to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1776, joined the Royal Fencible Americans, and was sent to Fort Cumberland (near Sackville, New Brunswick) later that year with his regiment. While stationed at Fort Cumberland in 1778, he married Abigail Freeman. Street took part in a number of missions to Maine during the American Revolutionary War. In 1781, he was captured. Burton, New Brunswick
Burton is a Canadian rural community in Sunbury County, New Brunswick. Geography Located on the Wolastoq River immediately downstream (southeast) of Oromocto on New Brunswick Route 102. Burton is the shire town of the county and is the location of the Sunbury County court house (). Services Burton has an elementary school for children from kindergarten to grade 2, educating about 40 students at a given time. Older children go to various other Anglophone West schools located in Oromocto. Burton also has a court house and a general store, Ultramar. William Bliss Carman (April 15, 1861 – June 8, 1929) was a Canadian poet who lived most of his life in the United States, where he achieved international fame. He was acclaimed as Canada's poet laureate during his later years. In Canada, Carman is classed as one of the Confederation Poets, a group which also included Charles G.D. Roberts (his cousin), Archibald Lampman, and Duncan Campbell Scott. "Of the group, Carman had the surest lyric touch and achieved the widest international recognition. John Ambrose Street
John Ambrose Street, (September 22, 1795 – May 5, 1865) was a lawyer and political figure in New Brunswick. He represented Northumberland County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1833 to 1842 and from 1843 to 1856. He was born in Burton, New Brunswick, the son of Samuel Denny Street and Abigail Freeman, and was educated there and in Fredericton. He studied law with his father and was called to the bar in 1817. Street lived in Newcastle from 1823 to 1845. He served as registrar of wills and deeds for Northumberland County and as a member of the county board of health. In 1823, he married Jane Isabella, the daughter of William Hubbard, who had represented Sunbury County in the provincial assembly.
