Samrat Hossain Emily
Samrat Hossain Emily was a Bangladeshi footballer of the 1980s. After starting his career as a striker, he moved to the role of an attacking midfielder in the 2nd half of the decade. He is among the few footballers who played with equal success for both the giants Mohammedan SC and Abahani Limited Dhaka. Between 1983 and 1988-89 he won a record 6 successive league titles. He also represented the Bangladesh national team between 1982 and 1988. Club career Early days A product of the Pioneer Football League, Emily got his big break while playing for Dhaka League club Wari AC in 1982. He was specially impressive in the Super League also scored against Abahani Limited Dhaka in the final matchday. Thanks to his goals Wari finished fourth in the league, their best finish of the decade. Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Chunnu
Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Chunnu played for the Bangladesh national football team for 10 years between 1975 and 1985. The left-winger represented Bangladesh in 50 international matches in which he scored 17 official goals during his 10-year long national career. Career Chunnu started his football career with Dilkusha (first division) in 1973. He played for Abahani KC for a long period from 1975 to 1988 after playing for Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society in 1974, besides wearing the national team jersey. The winger, locally known as Chunnu, scored a hat-trick as the first-ever Bangladeshi footballer against Nepal at the President's Gold Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in 1983. Badal Roy (Bangladeshi Footballer)
Badal Roy (4 July 1957 – 22 November 2020) was a Bangladeshi footballer. He was an attacking midfielder for the Mohammedan Sporting Club during the 1980s, at a time when the club was battling for supremacy against Abahani Krira Chakra on the Bangladeshi football scene. He played for Mohammedan for the entirety of his Dhaka league career from 1977 until 1989, winning the title five times. He also played for the Bangladesh national football team from 1981 to 1986. Roy later served as the vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation for 3 terms from 2008 to 2020. He was also a vice-president of Bangladesh Olympic Association. Federation Cup, also known as Bangladesh Federation Cup, is Bangladesh's premier cup competition in men's association football. The competition started in 1980 and is run by the Bangladesh Football Federation which is responsible for all types of competitive matches in the country. The teams from the country's premier league and other clubs compete in the tournament while occasionally Indian sides were invited in the past.
