Samay (band)
Samay are a band based in Leeds, UK, formed by musicians from India and Europe who take the traditional music of India and combine it with jazz, flamenco, samba, funk and chill-out. Overview The band consist of Jesse Bannister (UK), Soumik Datta (India), Giuliano Modarelli (Italy), Bhupinder Singh Chaggar (India) and Kenneth Higgins (UK) who replaced former bass player Javier Geras (Spain). Samay play original compositions and since the beginning they started performing in important festival such as Moor Music Festival, Garforth Arts Festival, Seven arts-Leeds and City of London Festival. In 2007 they performed in television shows such as the Nikki Bedi's Show on BBC Asian Network and at Doordarshan TV UK. In 2008, they released their first album, ''Songs for a Global Journey''. Leeds
Leeds () is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Leeds district in West Yorkshire, England. It is built around the River Aire and is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. London Jazz Festival
The London Jazz Festival is a music festival held every November. It takes place in London venues such as the Barbican and the Royal Festival Hall and in smaller jazz clubs, such as Ronnie Scott's and the Vortex Jazz Club. It is produced by Serious. History In 1970 the London Borough of Camden added a Jazz Week to the Camden Festival. During the next fifteen years, the Camden Jazz Weeks were held at venues around the borough: Bloomsbury Theatre, Logan Hall, London Forum, Roundhouse, and Shaw Theatre. Dingwalls
Dingwalls was a live music and comedy venue adjacent to Camden Lock, Camden, London, England. The building itself is one of many industrial Victorian buildings that were put to new use in the 20th century. The original owner of the building, T.E. Dingwall, had his name painted on to the outside wall of the building, which was a common practice by businesses in Camden Town during the late Victorian era. The paint is still visible to this day, hence the venue's name. The 500-capacity venue was bought by promoter Vince Power in June 2020 and continues to host gigs of contemporary music. It was renamed and reopened as The PowerHaus after a copyright issue blocked the use of its original name. Beverley Folk Festival
The Beverley Folk Festival is a three-day celebration of folk music, art, comedy and spoken word held in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was first organised in 1983 by the White Horse Folk Club and grew considerably over thirty years, being located both at Beverley Leisure Centre and at local venues in the town. In 2013, it moved to Beverley Racecourse and ran until 2018 when it fell into liquidation, resulting in a smaller programme of events being hosted in the town as Beverley Fringe Festival that year. It returns in 2022 again as the Folk Festival. Garforth Arts Festival
The Garforth Arts Festival is an annual arts festival that takes place in Garforth, Leeds, England. The events take place over a two-week period in June and July, ending with a full-day ‘Playground Party’ on the final Saturday. The festival features a variety of art forms, including comedy, theatre, circus, music, literature, art and dance. Most events are commissioned educational projects involving children and professional artists. Moor Music Festival
The Moor Music Festival was an annual music festival held initially on a farm in Addingham Moorside, near the town of Ilkley, West Yorkshire. For the 2009 and 2010 festivals, the setting was moved to Heslaker Farm near to Skipton in North Yorkshire. The festival had artists playing from the local area and beyond, many being prominent artists in the New Yorkshire music scene.
