Samantha Lane
Samantha Jane Lane (born 5 June 1979) is an Australian AFL and sports writer for ''The Age'' newspaper, television and radio personality and daughter of veteran journalist and commentator Tim Lane. She was a panellist on ''Before The Game'' on Network Ten for over a decade. Lane was a footy fanatic even during secondary education at St Michael's Grammar School where she had a keen interest in sport as well as aerobics and drama and began writing about Australian Rules Football while completing a Bachelor of Arts and language degree in French at Melbourne University. She now has experience across all major media—print, online, television and radio—as well as public speaking engagements. Journalism Lane started out writing for the Carlton Football Club monthly magazine and writing reports for the AFL website. Lane is a sports writer with ''The Age'' newspaper in Melbourne. The Community Cup (known as the Reclink Community Cup since 2009 under naming rights) is an annual charity event which features a celebrity mixed-gender Australian rules football match. It is noted for its cult following, celebrity appearances and media profile. First run in Melbourne in 1997, since 2012 it has expanded nationally, being hosted in every state capital including Sydney (2012-), Adelaide and Perth/ Fremantle (2015-), Hobart and Brisbane (2016-). Melbourne Vixens is an Australian netball team based in Melbourne, Victoria. Since 2017 they have represented Netball Victoria in Suncorp Super Netball. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). In Australia, ''Saturday Night Footy'' (formerly as ''Saturday Night Football'') is the broadcasting of Australian Football League (AFL) Saturday night matches on television. ''Saturday Night Footy'' is generally considered to be one of the biggest stages and generates publicity for the clubs involved.
