Sam Raybould
Samuel Francis Raybould (11 June 1875 – 1949) was an English professional footballer. He played as a striker and is most renowned for his days playing for Liverpool. Life and playing career Raybould was born in Staveley, Derbyshire and played for Poolsbrook United, Staveley Colliery and North Staveley before joining Chesterfield Town on trial. His trial wasn't successful, and he moved to Ilkeston Town from where he joined Derby County in 1894. Despite scoring twice in five games for Derby, Raybould returned to non-league football with Ilkeston Town, subsequently playing for Poolsbrook United, Ilkeston Town (for a third spell) and Bolsover Colliery before joining New Brighton Tower in 1899. He scored ten times in just 13 league games for New Brighton Tower and was signed by manager Tom Watson for Liverpool in January 1900. Staveley is a town and civil parish in the Borough of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. Located along the banks of the River Rother, South Yorkshire, River Rother. 1894–95 Football League
The 1894– 95 season was the seventh season of The Football League. During the first five seasons of the league the re-election process had concerned the clubs which finished in the bottom four of the league, but as of the 1894–95 season the re-election requirement was reduced to the last three clubs in Division Two. However, as Lincoln City (fourth from last) and Walsall Town Swifts (third from last) both finished with 20 points, they were both subjected to the re-election process, and Walsall eventually resigned from the league. After this, and until the 1976–77 season, goal average (explained below) was used to determine a club's exact position and there were no more anomalies in the re-election processes. Goal average was calculated by dividing the goals scored with goals conceded, and would more appropriately be called goal ratio. Scottish Football League
The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. William Goldie
William Glover Goldie (22 January 1878 – 3 February 1952) was a footballer who played for Liverpool in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, helping them to a Football League Championship. Life and playing career Born in Hurlford, Ayrshire, Scotland, Goldie played for Hurlford Thistle and Clyde before being signed by Liverpool manager John McKenna on 25 November 1897. He made his debut in a Football League Division One match on 2 April 1898 joining his brother, Archie, in the team. The siblings went on to appear together 44 more times before Archie moved to New Brighton Tower in 1900. John Glover (footballer)
John William Glover (28 October 1876 – 20 April 1955) was an English professional footballer who played as a right back. Born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, Glover made 200 appearances in the First Division for Blackburn Rovers (who signed him from the Rudge-Whitworth team in Coventry), Liverpool and Small Heath (later Birmingham), and in the 1900–01 season won the league championship with Liverpool. He and two other Liverpool players were banned from football for six months in 1903 for "accepting illegal financial inducements" from Southern League club Portsmouth to sign for them. When the ban ended, he signed for Small Heath, where he developed as a strong-tackling defender and formed an excellent full-back pairing with Frank Stokes.
