Sam Randolph
Samuel William Randolph (born May 13, 1964) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Born in Santa Barbara, California, Randolph learned the game of golf from his father, Sam Randolph Sr., who was the head professional at La Cumbre Country Club for 38 years. As a teen, Randolph and fellow future PGA Tour player, Billy Andrade, won the Junior World Cup in 1981. He played college golf for the University of Southern California and was a three-time first-team All-American with 13 collegiate wins. After finishing as runner-up in 1984, Randolph won the U.S. Amateur the following year. He also won the California State Amateur, the Haskins Award, and was low amateur at The Masters in 1985. 1985 Walker Cup
The 1985 Walker Cup, the 30th Walker Cup Match, was played on August 21 and 22, 1985, at Pine Valley Golf Club, Pine Valley, New Jersey. The event was won by the United States 13 to 11. Format The format for play on Wednesday and Thursday was the same. There were four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches were played. Each of the 24 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole extra holes were not played. Rather, each side earned ½ a point toward their team total. The team that accumulated at least 12½ points won the competition. If the two teams were tied, the previous winner would retain the trophy. Walker Cup
The Walker Cup is a golf trophy contested in odd-numbered years by leading male amateur golfers in two teams: United States, and Great Britain and Ireland. The official name is the Walker Cup Match (not "Matches" as in Ryder Cup Matches). It is organised by The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA). In 1921 the Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosted an unofficial contest which was followed by official annual contests from 1922 through 1924. From 1925 they became biennial, held on even-number years. After World War II they switched to odd-numbered years. They are held alternately in the U.S., and Ireland or Britain. The cup is named after George Herbert Walker who was president of the USGA in 1920 when the match was initiated. Walker is the grandfather and namesake of George H. W. The PGA Championship (often referred to as the US PGA Championship or USPGA outside the United States) is an annual golf tournament conducted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America. The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Gene Craig Sauers (born August 22, 1962) is an American professional golfer, currently playing on the PGA Tour Champions. He had three wins on the PGA Tour and overcame a deadly skin condition that kept him off the golf course for five years. He won the U.S. Senior Open in 2016, a senior major championship . Wayne Grady
Wayne Desmond Grady (born 26 July 1957) is an Australian professional golfer. Early life Born in Brisbane, Grady turned professional in 1978. Professional career Grady began his career on the PGA Tour of Australia. He had much early success, winning the 1978 CBA West Lakes Classic. He also played extensively on the European Tour during this era, winning the 1984 German Open. Shortly thereafter, Grady earned membership on the PGA Tour at 1984 PGA Tour Qualifying School. In 1989, Grady won the Westchester Classic. However, Grady is probably best known for his 1990 PGA Championship victory where he defeated Fred Couples down the stretch.
