Sam H. Zakhem
Sam Hanna Zakhem (born November 25, 1935) is a Lebanese-born American politician and diplomat who served as a member of the Colorado General Assembly, and later as the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bahrain. Biography Zakhem was born to a wealthy family in Lebanon but his father disinherited him when he emigrated to the United States. He came to the US after graduating from the American University in Cairo in 1957. He went on to graduate with a master's degree in economics at the University of Detroit. Zakhem returned to Lebanon but did not stay long. In 1965, he moved to Denver and worked various jobs while studying political science at the University of Colorado Boulder's graduate school, graduating with a Ph.D. He has a wife Merilynn and three sons. The United States ambassador to Bahrain is the official representative of the president of the United States to the head of state of Bahrain. The current Ambassador to Bahrain is Steven C. Bondy who has been serving since February 9, 2022. Until 1971, Bahrain had been part of a British protectorate along with the other sheikhdoms in the Persian Gulf. In 1971 the protectorate ended and seven of the other sheikhdoms joined in a federation to become the United Arab Emirates. Bahrain, however, did not join the federation but declared its independence on August 15, 1971. Robert Louis Beauprez (; born September 22, 1948) is an American politician and member of the Republican Party from the state of Colorado. Beauprez is a Colorado native and graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder. He worked as a dairy farmer and community banker before serving as chairman of the Colorado Republican Party from 1999 to 2002. He was then elected to represent Colorado's 7th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, and served from 2003 to 2007. He gave up his seat to run for Governor of Colorado in the 2006 election but lost to Democratic nominee Bill Ritter. Colorado's 7th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Colorado. Formerly located only in the northeast part of the state, the district now encompasses the western parts of the Denver metropolitan area, including Golden, Lakewood, Arvada and Broomfield, along with the central Colorado counties of Jefferson, Park, Teller, Lake, Chaffee, Fremont, and Custer.
