Sam Clyne
Simon "Sam" Clyne (died 2015) was an educational leader in Ireland, President of St Patrick's College, Drumcondra, the country's largest college of education, and a commentator on educational matters. A Vincentian priest and PhD holder, Sam Clyne also served as Principal of Castleknock College and as chaplain to the President of Ireland. Early life and education Simon Clyne, often called "Sam", was born in Clara, Co. Offaly, Ireland, son of Michael and Angela Clyne. He had four brothers and three sisters. He, and all his brothers, attended Castleknock College in Dublin, where he was an active inter-schools rugby player. He was head prefect in his final year. Clara, County Offaly
Clara () is a town on the River Brosna in County Offaly and is the 10th largest town in the midlands of Ireland. The town had a population of 3,336 as of the 2016 census. Clara's local services include churches, banks, credit union, schools, supermarkets, shops, garages, pubs, nightclubs and restaurants. It has its own Garda (police) and fire station while the Midlands Regional Hospital is located approximately eleven kilometres away in Tullamore. Geography Clara is situated in the north of County Offaly near the border with County Westmeath, on the regional road R420 some 12 km northwest of Tullamore. Situated on a plain (''Clóirtheach'' meaning plain or level place), the town is in reality an urban centre surrounded by a series of mini-villages.
