Sam Chupp
Sam Chupp is a tabletop game designer from the United States. Career Sam Chupp is the co-creator of the roleplaying games ''Wraith: the Oblivion'' (1994) and ''Changeling: The Dreaming'' (1995). Chupp was the Special Guest at the Marmalade Dog Gamefest II in 1995. He also wrote the religious biblical verse in the best-selling art book called the ''Book of Nod''. He won an ''Origins Award'' in 2003 for Best Game Aid Or Accessory for his work on ''Gamemastering Secrets'' by Grey Ghost Press. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Roleplaying Game
A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of player character, characters in a fictional Setting (narrative), setting. The Dreaming
The Dreaming, also referred to as Dreamtime, is a term devised by early anthropologists to refer to a religio-cultural worldview attributed to Australian Aboriginal beliefs. It was originally used by Francis Gillen, quickly adopted by his colleague Baldwin Spencer and thereafter popularised by A. P. Elkin, who, however, later revised his views. The Dreaming is used to represent Aboriginal concepts of ''Everywhen'', during which the land was inhabited by ancestral figures, often of heroic proportions or with supernatural abilities. These figures were often distinct from gods, as they did not control the material world and were not worshipped but only revered. The concept of the Dreamtime has subsequently become widely adopted beyond its original Australian context and is now part of global popular culture. Marmalade Dog is an annual gaming convention operated by the Western Michigan Gamers Guild (WMGG) and held on the campus of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan each spring. Marmalade Dog is traditionally held in The Bernhard Center (WMU's student union). Exceptions to this were in 1999 (Sangren Hall), 2002 (Ellsworth Cafeteria) and 2006 (Student Recreation Center). Name The distinctive name for the convention was given a brief explanation in th1994 pre-registration book The name was actually suggested by John Zimmerman (Guild Librarian around the time of the first Marmalade Dog): Prior to 1994 the WMGG was known as the "Western Area Role-Players" and the convention called "WARPCon". ''The Book of Nod'' is an epic poem written by Sam Chupp and Andrew Greenberg, published by White Wolf Publishing in 1993. Based on the tabletop role-playing game '' Vampire: The Masquerade'' and the ''World of Darkness'' series, it tells the creation myth of vampires, following Caine, the first vampire and the biblical first murderer. Overview The book is divided into three main sections: *The Chronicle of Caine: Outlining the events of Caine's exile, through to the great flood of the Bible. Origins Award
The Origins Awards are American awards for outstanding work in the game industry. They are presented by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design at the Origins Game Fair on an annual basis for the previous year, so (for example) the 1979 awards were given at the 1980 Origins. The Origins Award is commonly referred to as a Calliope, as the statuette is in the likeness of the muse of the same name. Academy members frequently shorten this name to "Callie". History Originally, the ''Charles S. Roberts Awards'' and the Origins Awards were one and the same. Starting with the 1987 awards, the Charles S. Grey Ghost Press
Grey Ghost Press was founded in 1994 by Ann Dupuis after spending time working on the '' Fudge RPG'' system by Steffan O'Sullivan. She initially created the company as Wild Mule Games in 1994, incorporated her company the following year as Ghostdancer Press, and then renamed it Grey Ghost Press. The company soon became the owner of the copyright to ''Fudge'' and began officially publishing the system with their first release ''Fudge 1995 Edition''. Later they re-released the system as ''Fudge 1995 Expanded Edition''. The company also published other games based on the ''Fudge'' rules, such as ''Gatecrasher'' and ''Terra Incognita''.
