Salwick
Salwick is a village between Kirkham and Preston in Lancashire, England. The village is largely rural and is an extension of the smaller Clifton to the south. It is in the borough of Fylde, and in the Parliamentary Constituency of Fylde, and forms part of the civil parish of Newton-with-Clifton. It is at , and is served by Salwick railway station. The area of "Clifton With Salwick" was in the Archdeaconry of Richmond in the Diocese of Chester. The etymology of Salwick is unclear. The "wick" may come from Old English ''wic'', meaning an earlier Romano-British settlement specialised in farming; but the "Sal(w)" element is unclear. Salwick is the home of the Springfields nuclear fuel manufacturing plant operated by Westinghouse Electric Company, which dominates the village. Salwick Railway Station
Salwick railway station is situated on the -to-Blackpool railway line in England, west of Preston, and is managed by Northern. The station lies between Preston and Kirkham, near the village of Clifton. The station was closed on 2 May 1938 along with Lea Road railway station to the east, but was reopened on 8 April 1940 to serve the adjacent industrial complex. Lancashire County Council has pledged to construct a new station at nearby Cottam which may require the closure of Salwick as referred to at page 38 of the ''Central Lancashire Highways and Transport Masterplan''. Services Salwick is served by only three trains towards Preston and three towards Blackpool a day, but it is not a formal request stop; trains are timetabled to stop there. Springfields
Springfields is a nuclear fuel production installation in Salwick, near Preston in Lancashire, England (). The site is currently operated by Springfields Fuels Limited, under the management of Westinghouse Electric UK Limited, on a 150-year lease from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Since its conversion from a munitions factory in 1946, it has previously been operated and managed by a number of different organisations including the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and British Nuclear Fuels. Clifton, Lancashire
Clifton is a village in the English county of Lancashire and in the district of Fylde. The village is part of the civil parish of Newton-with-Clifton. It is situated on the A583 road, approximately west of its post town, Preston, and east of Blackpool. The village is also home to the church of St John the Evangelist, also known as Lund parish church, which is situated on Church Lane, and the Grade II listed Clifton Hall. Amenities The village once had a Post Office and still has convenience store and a number of small businesses, including a garage. Near the village is a branch of Dobbies Garden Centre and a caravan and motor-home sales centre. In December 2014 radio station CliftonFM made its inaugural broadcast. Preston () is a city on the north bank of the River Ribble in Lancashire, England. Fulwood, Lancashire
Fulwood is an area and unparished area in Lancashire, England, forming much of the northern half of the unparished part of the City of Preston district. It had a population of 28,535 in 2011 and is made up of five wards. For several reasons, despite its close proximity to Preston, it has remained distinctly separated. Historically, Fulwood was governed independently from Preston until 1974. Furthermore, since the majority of the area is encompassed under The Fulwood Conservation Area, it has remained geographically separate from Preston.
