Salses XIII
Salses XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Salses-le-Château, Pyrénées-Orientales in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. They play in the French National Division 2 Languedoc-Rousillon League. Home games are played at the Stade Fontvielle History The club was founded in 1955 at a time when new clubs were starting up in rugby league, as the French national team were enjoying what would be their best period at international level. It would take Salses until 1986 to appear in their first final, defeated by Ornaisons XIII 10-16 in the Federal Division, now known as the National Division 2 league. In 2000 they merged with local side Opoul XIII to become Salses Opoul XIII this partnership would last for seven years, when both clubs reverted to their original names. During this joint partnership the newly named club reached five finals and won them all. National Division 2
National Division 2 is the fourth tier of rugby league in France, below the National Division 1. The season runs from September to April. The Division is split into 5 regional leagues, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrenees, Aquitaine, Ile de France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA). Clubs play each other home and away in their respective regional league with the top clubs progressing into a series of play-off matches to determine the champions. The champions can apply for promotion to the ''National Division 1''. This tier was formerly known as the Federal Championship. National Division 1
The National Division 1 is the third tier of rugby league in France, below the Elite Two Championship and above the National Division 2. The season runs from September to April. From season 2012–13 the league was split into regions ''East'' and ''West'', each team plays each other in their regional league home and away with the top sides then meeting in a series of play-off matches resulting in a Grand Final. The winner can be promoted to ''Elite Two'' subject to having adequate finances and facilities. Occasionally if the winners aren't able to be promoted, or opt out, then the team finishing second could be promoted. History The league was first played for in 1949-50 under the title 2nd Division. US Pujols XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Pujols, Lot-et-Garonne in the south-west of France. The club plays in National Division 1. Home games are played at the Lacassagne Sports Complex. Villeghailhenc-Aragon XIII
Villegailhenc-Aragon XIII are a semi-professional rugby league team based in Villegailhenc, Aude in Languedoc-Rousillon in southern France. They currently play in the second tier competition the Elite Two Championship. Their home stadium is the Stade Jerome Rieux. History Originally being an amateur club they competed in the French rugby league amateur competition the Federal Championship. In 1987 they reached their first 'Federal Championship' final, now called National Division 2, but lost out to Le Barcares 9-16. In 1993 they once again reached the final but lost again this time to Le Lauquet-Palaja 15-18. By the first decade of the millennium they were still playing in the National Division 2 but that changed when in season 2011/12 they once again reached the final but this time they won beating Le Soler 11-6 and thus clinching promotion. Montpellier XIII Red Devils ( fr:Montpellier Diables Rouges Rugby a XIII ) are a semi-professional rugby league club based in Montpellier, in the region of Herault, France. They currently play in the National Division 2. Their home ground is the Stade Sabathé. History Founded in 1953 as Montpellier Diables Rouges and named after the first club side to tour France in the 1930s, Salford, who were nicknamed the Diables Rouges in reference to their red playing shirts, Montpellier reached the top tier in 1957 and until the 1990s very little else occurred apart from them moving grounds in 1971 when their original stadium the Stade du Pont was closed down and demolished. Baroudeurs De Pia XIII
The Baroudeurs de Pia XIII, later known as the Pia Donkeys, are a French Rugby league team based in Pia, Pyrénées-Orientales in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. The ''Baroudeurs'' play in the Elite Two Championship during their existence they were the reserve team of the Elite One Championship team SM Pia XIII (the original Pia Donkeys), until that team ceased competing in Elite One and the reserve Baroudeurs were absorbed under the ''SM'' banner. The Albert Falcou Cup (french: Coupe Albert-Falcou), also called Albert Falcou French Cup (french: Coupe de France Albert-Falcou), is an annual knock-out competition organised by the Fédération Française de Rugby à XIII for amateur rugby league clubs in France. History The competition was introduced in 1937 and was originally known as the French Amateur Cup. The inaugural winners were the short-lived La Rochelle club (during World War II the club was forced to merge with the city's rugby union club, Atlantique Stade Rochelais, by the Vichy Government of the time). When rugby league was legalised again at the end of the war, the cup was re-instituted as the National Cup. This incarnation was contested between 1945 and 1962. Le Mas Agenais XIII
Le Mas Agenais XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Le Mas-d'Agenais, Lot-et-Garonne in the Aquitaine region. The club plays in the Midi-Pyrenees regional League in the French National Division 2. Home matches are played at the Stade Municipal Norbert Tessier. History Le Mas Agenais XIII have always played in the lower reaches of the French Rugby League system. In season 74/75 they won the Federal Division now called the National Division 2 but didn't go up. Since then they have finished runner-up twice, firstly in 96/97 when they lost out to Castelnau XIII 26-38 and then in season 2002/03 when they were beaten by Salses Opoul XIII 22-36.
