Salooni is the tehsil headquarter and Sub-Division in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Salooni is an important regional administrative and economic centre. It has a mini secretariat, SDM office, government senior secondary school, Degree College, community health centre and many other sub-division level important government offices. Salooni falls under Dalhousie legislative constituency. The entrance to the small township has a series of few quaint shops, followed by small ground with an ancient goddess Kali temple at other end. History Salooni according to one version is believed to be a corrupt form of "Sailani" (tourist) who frequented the place since the time of the rajas. Bhalei Mata Temple
Bhalei Mata Temple is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Bhadra. It is located on a high spur in Bhalei, which is now a Sub-Tehsil headquarters. It is about 35 km from Salooni Tehsil headquarters. The temple can be approached either from Chamba or from Dalhousie and is at a distance of 40 kilometers from Chamba and 30 kilometers from Dalhousie. Chamba is the northwestern district of Himachal Pradesh, in India, with its headquarters in Chamba town. Chamera Dam
The Chamera Dam impounds the River Ravi and supports the hydroelectricity project in the region. It is located near the town of Dalhousie, in the Chamba district in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. The reservoir of the dam is the Chamera Lake. Large part of its reservoir lies in Salooni sub-division of Chamba. After completion of the first phase 1994, the ''Chamera-I'' generates 540 MW (3x180 MW) of electricity. The second stage i.e. ''Chamera-II'' Dam generates 300 MW (3X100 MW) of electricity. From year 2012, the 3rd stage i.e. ''Chamera III'' generates 231 MW (3x77) of electricity. Gamgul
Gamgul is a high-altitude wildlife sanctuary located in the Bhandal valley in Salooni tehsil of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir adjoins it at the northern end. Western Tragopan
The western tragopan or western horned tragopan (''Tragopan melanocephalus'') is a medium-sized brightly plumed pheasant found along the Himalayas from north-eastern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northern Pakistan in the west to Uttarakhand within India to the east. The species is highly endangered and globally threatened.
