Salma Luévano
Salma Luévano Luna is a Mexican politician and LGBT+ rights activist. She currently sits in the Chamber of Deputies as a member of the Morena caucus. Career In the 1990s, Luévano was arrested by Mexican police on charges of indecency for wearing women’s clothing. Following her arrest, she became increasingly heavily involved in activist for LGBT+ rights in Mexico, eventually being named director of the Together for the Way of Diversity collective. She ran for Morena in the 2021 Mexican legislative election, successfully winning a seat. The Chamber of Deputies (Spanish: ''Cámara de Diputados'', ) is the lower house of the Congress of the Union, the bicameral parliament of Mexico. The other chamber is the Senate. The structure and responsibilities of both chambers of Congress are defined in Articles 50 to 70 of the constitution. MORENA () is a major Mexican left-wing political party. It is described as an anti-neoliberal and populist party. It is the ruling party of Mexico since 2018. The name is an acronym for the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (National Regeneration Movement), and means brown-skinned in Spanish. It also alludes to Mexico's Catholic national patroness: the Virgin of Guadalupe, known as 'La Morena'. 2021 Mexican Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Mexico on 6 June 2021. Voters elected 500 deputies (300 in single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post, 200 by proportional representation) to sit in the Chamber of Deputies for the 65th Congress. On 5 December 2020, the National Action Party, the Institutional Revolutionary Party and the Party of the Democratic Revolution announced an electoral alliance, ''Va por México'' ("Go For Mexico"). María Clemente García
María Clemente García Moreno (born 11 October 1985) is a Mexican politician, sex worker and activist for the rights of sexual diversity. Since 2021, she served as Deputy of the LXV Legislature of the Mexican Congress. Previously a member of Morena, she resigned from the party on 31 March 2022. Early years García was born on 11 October 1985 in Mexico City. Throughout her life, she has distinguished herself as an activist for the human rights of the LGBT population and sexual diversity, identifying as a transgender woman.
