Sally Wells
Sally Wells is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'', played by Rowena Mohr. She debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 15 October 1987. During her time in the serial her storylines were centered on her on-screen brother Des and trying to find her biological father. Mohr left the cast after Sally was axed because she did not fit in with the direction of storytelling producers were aiming for. Casting The character was created as the sister of Des Clarke (Neighbours), Des Clarke (Paul Keane) and a new love interest for Henry Ramsay (Neighbours), Henry Ramsay (Craig McLachlan). The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap '' Sons and Daughters.'' The ''Evening Express'' is a daily local newspaper serving the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. History It was first published in November 1879. It was a tabloid during the 1930s to the 1950s until it resumed as a broadsheet in November 1958, six days a week. Elaine Smith (born 23 April 1962) is a Scottish-Australian former actress who found fame on television series ''Neighbours'' in 1985 as original character Daphne Clarke. Biography Smith auditioned for a guest role in new series ''Neighbours'' in 1984. However her appearance, particularly her short spiky hair, caught the attention of the casting director and she was cast as regular character Daphne Lawrence. Smith continued in the role until 1988. Prior to this she had a small guest role in soap opera '' Sons and Daughters'' in 1984 as a flight attendant. Daphne was created by Reg Watson as one of ''Neighbours''' twelve original characters. The producer had originally wanted Rebecca Gibney to play the role, but she joined the cast of another television series. When Smith came in to audition for a guest part, her appearance, particularly her short haircut, caught the attention of the casting director, who had been looking for an "outrageous image" for the character of Daphne. Jane Harris is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'', played by Annie Jones. She was created by writer Ray Kolle and debuted during the episode broadcast on 31 July 1986. Jones originally auditioned for the role of Charlene Mitchell (Kylie Minogue), but she was not successful. This prompted Jones to telephone the producers for two months asking for a role in the show until eventually she was cast. In 1989, Jones decided to quit the serial in order to pursue other projects and the character departed on 9 September the same year.
