Sal Cannella
Sal Cannella (born September 23, 1942) is an American politician who served as a member of the California State Assembly from 1990 to 1996. Early life Cannella was born in 1942 in Newark, New Jersey. In 1953, he moved with his family to Stanislaus County, California. He graduated from Ceres High School in Ceres, California. Career Local government Cannella served on the Ceres City Council from 1976 until 1980 and as Mayor of Ceres from 1980 until 1982, when he was elected to the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors. He was reelected to the board in 1986. State Assembly Canella was on track to win reelection again in 1990 when he decided to run for a special election for the California State Assembly that January. Anthony Cannella
Anthony Joseph Cannella (born March 22, 1969) is an American politician who previously served in the California State Senate. A Republican, he represented the 12th Senate District, which encompasses all of both Merced and San Benito counties, as well as parts of Fresno, Madera, Monterey, and Stanislaus counties. Prior to his election to the State Senate, he served as the Mayor of Ceres. He is the son of Sal Cannella, a former Democratic Assemblymember who also represented portions of the Central Valley. Ceres, California
Ceres is a city in Stanislaus County, California. Its population was 49,302 at the 2020 U.S. Census, up from 45,417 at the 2010 U.S. Census. It is part of the Modesto metropolitan statistical area. Ceres is located in the San Joaquin Valley along State Route 99, south of Modesto and north of Turlock in Stanislaus County. Ceres is named after the Roman goddess of agriculture. The newspaper in Ceres is called the ''Ceres Courier'', which has been in publication since 1910. The offices of the ''Ceres Courier'' were relocated from an address in downtown Ceres in 2012. It has since combined day-to-day operations with its sister paper, the ''Turlock Journal'', in Turlock. Jeff Benziger, was appointed editor in 1987. The city also has a Spanish-language paper. John Lasarus Williams (29 October 1924 – 15 June 2004), known as John L, was a Welsh nationalist activist. Williams was born in Llangoed on Anglesey, but lived most of his life in nearby Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. In his youth, he was a keen footballer, and he also worked as a teacher. Richard J. Monteith (born February 7, 1932, in Los Banos, CA) is an American politician from California and a member of the Republican Party. Ceres High School is located in the city of Ceres, which is located in the central San Joaquin Valley, 80 miles south of Sacramento and 95 miles east of San Francisco, in the heart of Stanislaus County.
