Grenada ( ; Grenadian Creole French: ) is an island country in the West Indies in the Caribbean Sea at the southern end of the Grenadines island chain. Saint Patrick is one of the Catholic parishes of Grenada, covering the north of the country. Attractions A spectacular coastline with several fine bays faces several small islands to the north. Sauteurs
Sauteurs (pronounced Sau-tez) is a fishing town in the Saint Patrick Parish, Grenada and is the fourth-largest city on the island of Grenada, with a population of about 1,300. It is located in the far north of Grenada. Sauteurs is overlooking over the Sauteurs Bay. It is the largest town in the northern part of Grenada, and it is the capital city of the Saint Patrick Parish. History Here, the last remaining Carib Natives in Grenada jumped off a 40-meter-tall cliff later named Caribs' Leap to their deaths in 1651 rather than face domination by the conquering French. Chrysler Thomas
Chrysler Thomas (September 12, 1934 – February 11, 2013) was a Grenadian politician. Thomas served as a member of the Parliament of Grenada representing the Saint Patrick East constituency from December 1976 until the overthrow of the government by the New Jewel Movement on March 13, 1979. He also served as the Ministry of Agriculture while a member of the House of Representatives of Grenada. Thomas was born as the oldest of three children on September 12, 1934, in Mt. Rose, Saint Patrick Parish, Grenada. He married his wife, Agatha Wells, on Trinidad against the will of his parents the marriage produced had four children. His wife, Agatha, died in 1973 and he married his second wife, Lydia Jack, with whom he had two children. Thomas was arrested and imprisoned by the People's Revolutionary Government (PRC), led by Maurice Bishop, on March 15, 1979, two days after the revolution. The National Democratic Congress (NDC), also known as the National Democratic Congress of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, is a social democratic and centre-left political party in Grenada. It is the governing party in Grenada having won a majority in the 2022 general elections. The party is led by current prime minister Dickon Mitchell as of October, 2021. The party was founded in 1987 by George Brizan and Francis Alexis, as a party opposed to the New National Party government that came to power in the 1984 elections after the United States invasion of Grenada. 2022 Grenadian General Election
Snap general elections were held in Grenada on 23 June 2022. The incumbent Prime Minister Keith Mitchell sought a sixth term. National Democratic Congress (NDC) made a return to parliament after nine years of absence, defeating the ruling party New National Party (NNP), which led to Dickon Mitchell becoming the new prime minister of Grenada. This is also the first election since 2008 where the NDC gained seats. Background During the previous election held in March 2018, the NNP, led by prime minister Keith Mitchell, was re-elected to a fifth term. Like in the 2013 election, the NNP won all 15 seats in the house of representatives. Three months after the 2018 election, NDC leader Nazim Burke resigned, and deputy leader Joseph Andall acted as party leader in the interim.
