AS Douanes (basketball)
Association Sportive des Douanes, commonly known as AS Douanes, is a Senegalese basketball club from Dakar. Part of the Senegalese customs organisation, the team plays in the national top division Nationale 1 and is among the country's most decorated teams, having won 10 national titles. AS Douanes played and will play in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in the 2021 and 2023 seasons. History AS Douanes was established in 1980, as the basketball section of the Senegalese customs organisation. In 1998, the team won its first national championship. In October 2019, Douane won the Senegalese championship after defeating DUC in the final. By winning, Douanes qualified directly for the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) as an automatic spot was granted to the Senegalese champions. Pape Moustapha Diop (born 1 January 1996) is a Senegalese basketball player. He plays for the Senegal national basketball team and Joeuf-Homécourt Basket in France. College career A Dakar native, Diop played college basketball in Canada for Cape Breton University of Sydney. He averaged 2.5 points in 12.5 minutes per game in the 2017–18 season. On January 13, 2018, Diop scored a career-high 11 points in a 114–93 loss against UNB. Pape Mamadou "Mo" Faye (born 25 September 1993) is a Senegalese basketball player for AS Douanes and . Professional career In 2012, Faye started his career with Dbaloc Derkle in the Senegalese second division. In 2014, Faye transferred to M'Bour BC to play in the Nationale 1. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.
