Saint Michael the Archangel Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church ( Serbian: Српска православна црква Светог Архангела Михаила) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is a Serbian Eastern Orthodox church which is not a member of the Serbian Orthodox Church due to a tumultuous history. In 2008, the church was showcased in the annual Doors Open Toronto event. History The church structure was built in 1890 as an Anglican church. In 1964, it was bought by the Serbian Canadian community to serve as the city's second Serbian Orthodox church (the first being the Saint Sava Church in Cabbagetown). The church is located in Dovercourt Park on 212 Delaware Avenue just across the street from Ossington station. Holy Transfiguration Monastery (Milton, Ontario)
The Holy Transfiguration Monastery ( sr, / ) is a Serbian Orthodox monastery. It is located in Campbellville, Milton, Ontario and it serves as the headquarters of the Eparchy of Canada. It is the first and only Serbian Orthodox monastery in Canada. History The monastery was built on 43 acres of land purchased in 1984 and blessed four years later in 1988. Beside the Holy Transfiguration Church, there is a residence, library and museum with over 10,000 books. The frescoes were painted by Mr. Dragan Marunic, the famous painter from Belgrade, Serbia. Upon completion, the monastery was blessed by the Serbian Patriarch Pavle on June 12, 1994. The first Serbian cemetery in Canada is located on the grounds of the Holy Transfiguration Monastery. Divine Liturgy ( grc-gre, Θεία Λειτουργία, Theia Leitourgia) or Holy Liturgy is the Eucharistic service of the Byzantine Rite, developed from the Antiochene Rite of Christian liturgy which is that of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
