Saint-Raymond
Saint-Raymond, also called Saint-Raymond de Portneuf, is a city in Quebec, Canada, located about north-west of Quebec City. It is the largest city in population and area of the Portneuf Regional County Municipality. Geography Saint-Raymond is located on either side of the Sainte-Anne River. The municipal territory extends far to the north and has a total area of 670 km2. Most of the municipality is made up of forests where several chalets are built. History First settlements The seigniory of Bourg-Louis, which includes the territory of Saint-Raymond, was initially occupied by the Huron. Their round hut was only a few feet away from the current location of the presbytery. The seigniory was jointly owned by Bernard-Antoine Panet and Peter Langlois. The two men encourage the colonization of Sainte-Anne river valley. Claude Duplain (born January 10, 1954) is a Canadian politician. He was elected as the Member of Parliament for Portneuf, as the candidate of the Liberal Party of Canada, during the 37th Parliament (which sat from January 2001 through May 2004). During that time he served as a member of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food and the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage. Claude Duplain has been president of Construction du Grand Portneuf, a general construction company, since 1996. He is deeply involved in the economic development of the region of Portneuf. Portneuf is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, which elects members to the National Assembly. It notably includes the municipalities of Saint-Raymond, Pont-Rouge, Donnacona and Neuville.
