Kim Ho-kon (sailor)
Kim Ho-kon ( ko, 김호곤, also known as Kim Ho-gon, born 30 January 1971) is a South Korean former sailor, who specialized in the Laser class. Regarded as one of South Korea's most successful sailors in history, Kim has appeared in three editions of the Olympic Games (1996, 2000, and 2004) and has produced a tally of three medals (two golds and one bronze) in the Laser class at the Asian Games. Kim made his Olympic debut in Atlanta 1996, finishing twenty-third overall in the inaugural Laser class with a satisfying net grade of 170. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Kim was not able to improve his previous Olympic feat with mediocre marks recorded throughout the eleven-race series, sitting him in the twenty-sixth position with 181 net points. Kevin Lim (sailor)
Kevin Lim Leong Keat (born 27 September 1976) is a Malaysian former sailor, who specialized in the Laser class. He bagged two silver medals at the Asian Games (1998 and 2002) and became the first-ever Malaysian athlete in history to compete in four editions of the Summer Olympic Games (1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008). Before retiring from the sport in late 2008, Lim trained most of his career at the Woollahra Sailing Club in Sydney, Australia. Lim became the first Malaysian sailor to compete at the Olympics, making his debut as a 20-year-old in Atlanta 1996. There, he finished thirty-eighth overall in the inaugural Laser class with a net grade of 300. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Lim endured most of the races almost at the rear end of the field before finding his form to notch a second-place finish on the last leg, vaulting him to twenty-second overall with 145 net points. Kunio Suzuki
is a Japanese sailor, who specialized in the Laser and two-person keelboat (Star) class. He earned a bronze medal in his respective category at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, and also represented his nation Japan in two editions of the Olympic Games (2000 and 2004). Suzuki also trains full-time for the Wakayama Marina City Regatta in Wakayama. Suzuki made his official debut at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he placed twenty-seventh in the Laser class with a net grade of 202, surpassing Seychelles' Allan Julie by a single mark. The Laser is a class of Single-handed sailing, single-handed, one-design dinghy sailing, sailing dinghies using a common hull design with three interchangeable rigs of different sail areas, appropriate to a given combination of wind strength and crew weight. Bruce Kirby (yachts), Bruce Kirby designed the Laser in 1970 with an emphasis on simplicity and performance. The Laser is a widely produced class of dinghies. As of 2018, there were more than 215,000 boats worldwide. It is an international class with sailors in 120 countries, and an Olympic class since 1996. Its wide acceptance is attributable to its robust construction, simple rig and ease of sailing that offer competitive racing due to tight class association controls which eliminate differences in hull, sails, and equipment. Koh Seng Leong
Joseph Koh Seng Leong (born 19 September 1983) is a Singaporean former sailor, who specialized in the Laser and 470 classes. He represented Singapore across two editions of the Summer Olympic Games (2000 and 2008), finishing outside the top twenty-five each in two separate boats, respectively. Outside Olympic career, Koh collected a total of two medals in a continental regatta, spanning the 2006 Asian Games in Doha and the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima. Koh trained throughout his sporting career at SAF Yachting Club in Changi, under the tutelage of his personal coach Brett Beyer, a six-time Laser Apprentice Master world champion from Australia.
