Syedpur (Saidpur) ( bn, সৈয়দপুর) is a city of Nilphamari district in Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. The city has become a very important communication hub for adjoining major district headquarters. Syedpur Airport is one of the domestic airports in Bangladesh. The Syeddpur Railway Workshop, established in 1870, is the largest in Bangladesh and was the major railway workshop for Assam-Bengal railway. The city has historically been an Urdu-speaking community with close ties to Bihar. History The city of Syeddpur was established around the Syedpur Railway Workshop, established in 1870 by the British Colonial regime. Nothing is known about the origin of the upazila's name. Bangla Bhasha Procholon Ain, 1987 ( bn, বাংলা ভাষা প্রচলন আইন, ১৯৮৭, lit=Bengali Language Implementation Act, 1987) is an Act by the Government of Bangladesh to implement and enforce the article 3 of the Constitution of Bangladesh. It is the 2nd Act of 1987. According to this act, all records and correspondences, laws, proceedings in court and other legal actions must be written in the Bengali language in all courts, government or semi-government offices, and autonomous institutions in Bangladesh. The act is considered "a revolutionary step taken by the State" intended to empower the language of the common people and remove the language barrier installed by the colonial British authority, which was construed to have obstructed access to public services and justice for ordinary citizens. Pohela Baishakh
Pohela Boishakh ( bn, পহেলা বৈশাখ) is the first day of the Bengali calendar which is also the official calendar of Bangladesh. This festival is celebrated on 14 April in Bangladesh and 15 April in the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, and Assam (Barak Valley) by Bengalis regardless of religious faith. Celebration of Pohela Boishakh traces its roots back to Mughal rule in this region and also the proclamation of tax collection reforms of Akbar. Eid-al-Adha
Eid al-Adha () is the second and the larger of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam (the other being Eid al-Fitr). It honours the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to Allah's command. Before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, however, Allah provided him with a lamb which he was supposed to kill in his son's place because of his willingness to sacrifice his own son in the name of God. In commemoration of this intervention, animals are ritually sacrificed. Part of their meat is consumed by the family which offers the animal, while the rest of the meat is distributed to the poor and the needy. Chini Mosque
Chini Mosque ( bn, চিনি মসজিদ, ur, چنی مسجد) is located in Saidpur city of Nilphamari district in Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. The mosque is also known as Glass Mosque. The construction of the mosque was started in 1863 by Haji Bakir Ali Ahmed and was completed within a year as a little prayer house. Later Wazir Ali Ahmed, a descendant of the founders family started the extension and modification work of this mosque. After that, in the middle of the 20th century the sons of the late Wazir Ali Ahmed, Mofizuddin Ahmed and Shafiuddin Ahmed (well known as cloth merchants) continued the beautification work of the mosque. At the time the ceramics pieces were brought from Kolkata as there was no ceramic factory in East Pakistan/Bengal (present Bangladesh).
