Said Salah Ahmed ( so, Saciid Saalax Axmed, ar, سعيد صالح أحمد) is a Somalis, Somali playwright, poet, educator and filmmaker. Life Said Salah was previously a biology teacher in Somalia. In 1984-1985, Ahmed directed his first feature film, ''The Somali Darwish'' (alt. ''The Somalia Dervishes''), with Amar Sneh serving as producer. With a budget of $1.8 million, the 4-hour-and-40-minute epic was devoted to the polity of Darawiish king Las_Anod#Diiriye_Guure, Diiriye Guure, i.e. the Dervish movement (Somali), Dervish Movement. In the film dialogue you can hear seven languages: Somali language, Somali, Arabic, Italian language, Italian, English language, English, and three regional dialects. Poetry Translation Centre
The Poetry Translation Centre (PTC) is an organization dedicated to translating poetry from Africa, Asia and Latin America. It is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. It was founded by the British poet Sarah Maguire in 2004. Its work has been championed by such British poets as Nick Laird, and it is one of the Arts Council England's regularly funded organisations. The PTC's website currently includes translations of 521 poems by more than 100 poets from 21 countries written in 19 different languages – from Amharic to Zapotec. The poems are given in three different versions: in the original language, as a basic "literal" translation and as the final version in English, thus giving a valuable insight into the translation process. SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development is the largest performing theatre for youth in the greater Saint Paul, Minnesota, Saint Paul area. The mainstage season, which runs annually from October to July, features many plays written on commission by emerging local playwrights. SteppingStone Theatre also offers years round youth acting classes, workshops and residencies throughout the Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Twin Cities and greater Minnesota. History SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development was founded in 1987 with two artist-in-residence programs at inner-city Saint Paul schools that gave students a chance to have a participatory theatre experience.
