Sada-e-Umeed
Sada-e-Umeed (En: call of hope) is an organization for children with disabilities in Khanewal, Pakistan. Khanewal, a Christian colony founded in 1970, is 500 kilometers south of Islamabad. It is an initiative of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Multan. Two Little Sisters of Jesus The Little Sisters of Jesus are a community of Catholic religious sisters inspired by the life and writings of Charles de Foucauld, founded by Little Sister Magdeleine of Jesus (Madeleine Hutin). Little Sister Magdeleine of Jesus 1898 - 1989 ..., Sister Cecilia, a Belgian missionary, and Pakistani Sister Zeenat started the project in 1995 and handed it over to lay people after 10 years. Sada-e-umeed got registration under the Societies Act in 2005 and has an independent board of directors. Mr. Francis Daniel is the chairman of the board. Khanewal
Khanewal () is a city and the capital of Khanewal District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is the 36th largest city of Pakistan by population. Khanewal is named after the earliest settlers here who belonged to the caste ‘Daha’ (A Sub-Caste of Panwar Rajput) and used ‘Khan’ in their names. Disability In Pakistan
People with disabilities in Pakistan are seen differently than in most Western countries due to cultural and religious beliefs. The lack of accurate epidemiological evidence on disabilities, insufficient resources, weak health care facilities and worker shortages are major obstacles to meeting the needs of disabled Pakistanis. Demographics The 5th Population and Housing Census conducted in 1998 identified the population of Persons with Disabilities in Pakistan to be 2.38% of the entire population. However, as per the 6th Population and Housing Census of 2017, the percentage has gone down to less than 0.48%.
