''Saattai'' () is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by M. Anbazhagan. The film features Samuthirakani and Thambi Ramaiah in pivotal roles. The film's soundtrack and background score were composed by D. Imman. The shooting took place in NLC and Thiruvannamalai. The film is the first installment of the film series and was followed by a spin-off, '' Appa'' (2016), and a sequel ''Adutha Saattai'' (2019). The movie was officially remade in Kannada in 2020 as ''Drona''. Plot Dayalan ( Samuthirakani) is a newly appointed teacher of a government school in Vanthaarangudi village near Thiruvannamalai city. He is unhappy with the education system and is also worried about the pitiable condition of education of government schools. After joining the school, he tries to change the school's environment. ''Adutha Saattai'' () is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language action drama film which is a sequel to ''Saattai'' (2012), written and directed by M. Anbazhagan. The film is the third installment in the ''Saattai'' franchise. It stars Samuthirakani and Thambi Ramaiah with Athulya Ravi, debutant Kaushik Sundaram, and Yuvan in supporting roles. D. ''Appa'' ( ''Father'') is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language independent drama film written and directed by Samuthirakani and is produced by Sasikumar who also plays a guest appearance. The film is a spin-off to the 2012 film ''Saattai'' and the second installment in the film series. The film features Samuthirakani and Thambi Ramaiah reprising their roles from the previous film, while Namo Narayanan, Vignesh and Nasath play supporting roles. Samuthirakani (born 26 April 1973) is an Indian actor and film director who predominantly works in Tamil films and Telugu films besides appearing in a number of Malayalam films.
