SVV Schiedam
SV SVV, short for Sportvereniging Schiedamse Voetbal Verenigingen, is a Dutch football club from Schiedam. Founded in 1904, the club won the Dutch national football title in 1949. In 1991, the professional branch of SVV and neighbouring Dordrecht'90 merged to form FC Dordrecht. SVV continues to play in amateur leagues. History The club was founded in 1904 as ''Excelsior'', which was renamed to ''Voorwaarts'' (Forward) two years later. The name was again changed, to SVV this time, when the club entered the Dutch national football competition. SVV was a people's club, and its players came mostly from the local residential area De Gorzen. SVV won promotion to the Eerste Klasse, the highest national division at the time, in 1948. The first season at that level immediately saw the club winning the title. This allowed SVV to face other Eerste Klasse champions for the national title. Eerste Divisie
The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason. History The Eerste Divisie consists of 20 clubs, who play each other in a double round-robin league, with each club playing the other club home and away. Each club plays every other club once in the first half of the season before the league takes a winter break around the Christmas and New Year's holiday season. The second half of the season sees the same fixtures as the first half, with the stadiums changed, although the two halves are not played in the same order. Hans Croon
Hans Croon (25 May 1936 – 5 February 1985) was a Dutch football manager who won the 1976 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final with Anderlecht. Managerial career As well as Anderlecht, Croon coached in the Netherlands and Belgium with DWS, VER, HVC, FC Volendam, K.S.V. Waregem, Lierse S.K. and NEC. His Anderlecht side won the 1976 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup with a 4–2 victory over West Ham United on 5 May 1976 at Heysel Stadium in Brussels. He also won the Belgian Cup in 1976 with Anderlecht. He left Belgium and moved to NEC, and coached the team until 1978. He later succeeded compatriot Kees Rijvers at Beringen, with whom he suffered relegation from the Eerste Klasse. The inaugural Dutch Supercup ( nl, Nederlandse Supercup) was held on 25 June 1949 at the Goffertstadion in Nijmegen. The match featured the 1948–49 winners of the league title SVV, and, the winners of the 1948–49 KNVB Cup, Quick 1888. Both goals were scored in the second half. The match was held to commemorate the forty-year existence of the Nijmegen section of the KNVB. There would not be another Dutch Supercup held until 1991. The Johan Cruyff Shield (, ) is a football trophy in the Netherlands named after Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff, also often referred to as the Dutch Super Cup. The winner is decided in one match only, played by the winner of the national football league, Eredivisie, and the winner of the national KNVB Cup. In the event of a team winning both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield will be contested between that team and the runner up in the national league. The Dutch Eerste Divisie in the 1989–90 season was contested by 19 teams. Schiedamse Voetbal Vereniging (SVV) won the championship. New play-off system From this year onwards, only one club promoted directly to the Eredivisie, instead of two. Also, one of the Eredivisie-clubs (the number 16 of 18) now had a chance to avert relegation. Promotion was no longer certain for the runner-up of the Eerste Divisie. Winston Lloyd Bogarde (born 22 October 1970) is a Dutch retired professional footballer, and was the assistant coach at Ajax. He was known for his physical strength, and played mostly as a central defender although he could occasionally play as full-back. He had spells at Ajax, Barcelona and Chelsea. Johannes Frederik "Joop" Hiele (born 25 December 1958 in Rotterdam) is a former football goalkeeper from the Netherlands, who earned seven caps for the Netherlands national football team.
