The inaugural Dutch Supercup ( nl, Nederlandse Supercup) was held on 25 June 1949 at the Goffertstadion in Nijmegen. The match featured the 1948–49 winners of the league title SVV, and, the winners of the 1948–49 KNVB Cup, Quick 1888. Both goals were scored in the second half. The match was held to commemorate the forty-year existence of the Nijmegen section of the KNVB. There would not be another Dutch Supercup held until 1991. SV SVV
SV SVV, short for Sportvereniging Schiedamse Voetbal Verenigingen, is a Dutch football club from Schiedam. Founded in 1904, the club won the Dutch national football title in 1949. In 1991, the professional branch of SVV and neighbouring Dordrecht'90 merged to form FC Dordrecht. SVV continues to play in amateur leagues. History The club was founded in 1904 as ''Excelsior'', which was renamed to ''Voorwaarts'' (Forward) two years later. The name was again changed, to SVV this time, when the club entered the Dutch national football competition. SVV was a people's club, and its players came mostly from the local residential area De Gorzen. SVV won promotion to the Eerste Klasse, the highest national division at the time, in 1948. The first season at that level immediately saw the club winning the title. This allowed SVV to face other Eerste Klasse champions for the national title. Quick 1888 (also referred to as Quick Nijmegen) is an amateur sporting club from Nijmegen, Netherlands. It was founded in 1888 as a cricket club and currently plays football in the third amateur level. As a football club, Quick reached its moment of fame in 1949 when it won the Dutch Cup of which a replica is on display in the club house. Afterwards the club lost the final of the 1949 Dutch Supercup against Schiedamse Voetbal Vereniging. The club also has a badminton, athletics and a field hockey branch. The Goffertstadion (), formerly known as McDOS Goffertstadion for sponsorship reasons, is a association football, football stadium in Nijmegen, Netherlands, located in the Goffertpark. It is home to football club NEC (football club), NEC. The stadium was opened on 8 July 1939 by Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Since 1951 the opening of the International Four Days Marches Nijmegen, the so-called Vlaggenparade, a parade with the Flags of the World (website), national flags of all participants is held in the stadium. NEC Nijmegen are the tenants of the 12,500 capacity venue. On 19 October 1983 NEC played a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup match against FC Barcelona, still seen as the most important match ever played in the Goffert stadium. Zutphen () is a city and municipality located in the province of Gelderland, Netherlands. Johan Cruyff Shield
The Johan Cruyff Shield (, ) is a football trophy in the Netherlands named after Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff, also often referred to as the Dutch Super Cup. The winner is decided in one match only, played by the winner of the national football league, Eredivisie, and the winner of the national KNVB Cup. In the event of a team winning both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield will be contested between that team and the runner up in the national league. KNVB Cup
The KNVB Beker (; en, KNVB Cup), branded as the TOTO KNVB Beker for sponsorship reasons, is a competition in the Netherlands organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since 1898. It was based on the format of the English FA Cup. Outside the Netherlands, it is often referred to as the Dutch Cup. The Royal Dutch Football Association (, ; KNVB ) is the governing body of football in the Netherlands. Jan van Schijndel (4 March 192728 February 2011) was a Dutch football player. Club career A one-club man, van Schijndel has played his entire career for SVV in Schiedam, with whom he won the 1949 Dutch league title and the first Dutch Supercup.
