The SSLV-D2 was the second mission of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). The vehicle carried three payloads: EOS–07, Antaris US Firm named as Janus-01 and AzaadiSAT-2 by SpaceKidz India. Details ISRO launched the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) in Low Earth orbit, on 10th February 2023 from the first launchpad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. It contained three payloads having a total mass of 172.6 kg. This was the follow-up mission of SSLV-D1 with main objectives to demonstrate in-flight performance of SSLV vehicle systems and injection of all three satellites into 450 km low Earth orbit. EOS–07
EOS–07 (formerly known as Microsat-2B) is an Earth observation satellite developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and launched during the SSLV-D2 mission, the first successful mission of the SSLV rocket. Small Satellite Launch Vehicle
The Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) is a small-lift launch vehicle developed by ISRO with payload capacity to deliver to low Earth orbit () or to Sun-synchronous orbit () for launching small satellites, with the capability to support multiple orbital drop-offs. SSLV is made keeping low cost, low turnaround time in mind with launch-on-demand flexibility under minimal infrastructure requirements. The maiden flight SSLV-D1 was conducted on 7 August 2022, from the First Launch Pad, but failed to reach a stable orbit. In the future, a dedicated launch site called SSLV Launch Complex (SLC) near Kulasekharapatnam in Tamil Nadu will handle SSLV launches to Sun-synchronous orbit. AzaadiSAT-2
AzaadiSAT was an Indian Earth observation 8U Cubesat weighing around 8 kg developed by the Space Kidz India as a test payload on the maiden launch of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). It was hitching a ride with EOS-02, the primary satellite of the mission. The launch on 7 August 2022 was a failure in the rocket leading to imminent return to atmosphere for the rocket and the satellites (AzaadiSAT and EOS-02) it carried, destroying them all. Its successor AzaadiSAT-2 was launched onboard SSLV-D2. Development It was created to mark India’s 75th year of independence. This anniversary was being marked in 2022 by the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations throughout the country, and the CubeSat was part of this campaign. SSLV-D1
The SSLV-D1 was the first mission of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). Due to a sensor fault during separation of second stage and subsequent initiation of Open Loop Guidance by onboard computer to salvage the mission, the upper stage did not fire for planned duration and payloads were ultimately injected into a decaying orbit not achieving the objectives of mission.
