State Route 319 (SR 319) is a state highway in Lincoln County, Nevada. The route connects the town of Panaca to Modena, Utah. SR 319 has been part of the state highway system since at least 1932, and was part of the longer State Route 25 prior to the late 1970s. Route description State Route 319 begins at a junction with U.S. Route 93 near Cathedral Gorge State Park. After a short distance, the highway passes through the town of Panaca on F Street. Exiting the town, the route continues eastward about before turning slightly southeast to climb the Panaca Summit. SR 319 turns eastward again as it heads towards the Utah state line. Panaca, Nevada
Panaca is an unincorporated town in eastern Lincoln County, Nevada, United States, on State Route 319, about east of U.S. Route 93, near the border with Utah. Its elevation is above sea level. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 963. It is one of only two cities in Nevada that prohibits gambling, the other being Boulder City. History The area that was to become the Panaca settlement was explored by Mormons in 1857. Brigham Young dispatched the explorers in order to locate a potential refuge in case of a U.S. military campaign against Utah. The location was selected due to the Meadow Valley oasis at the headwaters of the Muddy River. Mormon scouts began irrigation ditches and started fields, but the site was soon deserted after the feared violence never materialized. Warm Springs is a former town in the Tonopah Basin in Nye County, Nevada, near the mountain pass which divides the Kawich Range, Kawich and Hot Creek Range, Hot Creek ranges (at ). It is located at the junction of U.S. Route 6 in Nevada, U.S. Route 6 and Nevada State Route 375, State Route 375 (the "Extraterrestrial Highway"), around 50 miles east of Tonopah, Nevada, Tonopah. Only two abandoned buildings remain. History The first white settlement in Warm Springs was in 1866, when it served as a stopover for stagecoaches and other travellers. The post office was in operation from January 1924 through June 1929. In 1947, the springs was purchased by the Fallini brothers and it was reported that Thomas Hurt had been operating the springs for several years. Crystal Springs is a ghost town in the Pahranagat Valley region of Lincoln County, Nevada in the United States. The ghost town is located at the junction of State Route 318 and State Route 375 (Extraterrestrial Highway), just northwest of U.S. Route 93. It is a popular destination for passersby who want to visit the towns of Hiko and Rachel. The namesake of the ghost town, the Crystal Springs, lies nearby; it is a large group of marshes and springs along the White River. The population was 1,130 at the 2010 census, making it the least populated incorporated city in Nevada. The city's name originated from the nearby hot springs, as "''caliente''" is the Spanish word meaning "hot". History Caliente was founded in 1901 on Culverwell Ranch (or just "Culverwell"), built on land owned by William and Charles Culverwell. State Route 56 (SR-56) is a state highway completely within Iron County in southwestern Utah. SR-56 runs from the Utah/Nevada border to SR-130 in Cedar City. Route description From its western terminus on the Nevada border near Modena, the route heads northeast until reaching Modena, where it turns southeast. It continues this direction until Newcastle, where it begins heading east and then southeast.
