In the U.S. state of Utah, some state highways have been specifically designated to serve state parks and state institutions. The range of numbers from State Route 281 to State Route 320 has been used for this purpose since 1969. __NOTOC__ State Route 281 State Route 281 served Dixie College (now Utah Tech University) in St. George until 1991. It was created in 1935 as State Route 191, connecting SR-1 ( US-91, now SR-34) to the college. Draper is a city in Salt Lake and Utah counties in the U.S. state of Utah, about south of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front. As of the 2020 census, the population is 51,017, up from 7,143 in 1990. Draper is part of two metropolitan areas; the Salt Lake County portion is in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, while the Utah County portion is in the Provo-Orem metropolitan area. SR-140 (UT)
State Route 140 (SR-140) is a long state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. It runs from 800 West in Bluffdale to Interstate 15 (I-15). Route description SR-140 begins at an intersection with 800 West and 14600 South in Bluffdale, proceeding east on 14600 South. Following a crossing of the East Jordan Canal, there is an intersection with SR-131 at Porter Rockwell Boulevard. SR-140 then turns southeast to meet SR-287 (known as Pony Express Road), which serves the Utah State Prison. Shortly thereafter, there is a single-point urban interchange with I-15, where SR-140 ends. The road continues east as Highland Drive toward Draper. Just beyond the end of the state route, Highland Drive passes under a disused railroad viaduct, previously used by the Union Pacific Railroad, that is proposed for use by phase 2 of the TRAX Blue Line's Draper extension. Utah State Industrial School
Utah State Industrial School was a juvenile reform school that operated in Ogden, Utah from October 31, 1889 to 1983. History In 1888, the Utah Territorial Assembly passed the Reform School bill, at the initiative of Salt Lake City attorney James Moyle, to help juvenile delinquents by teaching new skills and improving habits. In May 1888, a committee researched schools around the United States to determine which model would be best for the Utah Territory. The Utah Territorial Reform School opened in Ogden on October 31, 1889. Boys and girls lived in the same dormitories during the first ten years, but daily activities, were divided by gender. Discipline was an ongoing concern deemed necessary to keep children in line at the school. Punishment ranged from deprivation of meals and privileges, to solitary confinement, whipping, and the use of restraints. Youths were confined at the school by the order of juvenile court judges. State Route 235 (SR-235), also known as Washington Boulevard, is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. Spanning , it serves as a north/south minor arterial road through Weber County, connecting US-89 in Ogden to SR-134 in North Ogden. Route description State Route 235 begins at the intersection of Washington Boulevard ( US-89) and 2nd Street in Ogden. At this point, US-89 turns from its north-south routing along Washington Boulevard to the northwest along Harrisville Road while Washington continues north and becomes SR-235.
