SP-280
The Rodovia Presidente Castelo Branco (SP-280) is a tollway in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It was first opened on Saturday, 10 November 1968, by, then, the Governor of the state of São Paulo, Abreu Sodré. The tollway name was given in memory of former military despot Field Marshal Humberto de Alencar Castelo Branco, who served as President of Brazil during the military dictatorship. Running westbound from the city of São Paulo and finishing in Espírito Santo do Turvo, while heading towards the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, near the northern border of the southern state of Paraná, 'Rodovia Castelo Branco, as it is popularly known, is about long, and one of Brazil's safest tollways. The tollway passes by several cities, including: Barueri, Santana de Parnaíba, São Roque, Sorocaba, Tatuí, Avaré and Águas de Santa Bárbara. Sorocaba () is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Sorocaba is the eighth-largest city in the state of São Paulo. Cesário Lange is a Brazilian municipality in the state of São Paulo. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Sorocaba, and the statistical mesoregion of Itapetininga and microregion Tatuí. The population is 18,375 (2020 est.) in an area of . History The municipality was founded in December 12, 1878 by João Mendes de Almeida, according to Law No. 29/64. It was assigned town category under Law No. 5285 of February 18, 1959, implemented January 1, 1960. Its political emancipation was made under Law No. 28 of August 19, 1966. The town was named in honor of Cesario Lange Adrien, its first teacher. Almeida built the first chapel in the city, dedicated to Santa Cruz, which was subsequently enlarged into a church. Marshal Humberto de Alencar Castelo Branco () (September 20, 1897 – July 18, 1967) was a Brazilian military leader and politician. He served as the first president of the Brazilian military dictatorship after the 1964 military coup d'etat. Castelo Branco was killed in an aircraft collision in July 1967, soon after the end of his presidency. Family background Castelo Branco was born in a wealthy Northeastern Brazilian family having roots in Coura (Paredes de Coura), Portugal. His father, Cândido Borges Castelo Branco, was a general. Rodovia Santos Dumont
Rodovia Santos Dumont (officially designated SP-075) is a highway in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It runs in a north–south direction and interconnects the cities of Campinas, Indaiatuba, Salto, Itu and Sorocaba, crossing with two other major highways, Rodovia Castelo Branco, nearby Sorocaba, and the Rodovia dos Bandeirantes nearby Campinas, thus forming a vertex of the Macrometropolitan Highway Ring of São Paulo. At the km 66 of Rodovia Santos Dumont there is the Viracopos Airport. The highway honours the Brazilian inventor Alberto Santos-Dumont, considered the "father of aviation".
