SNCF TGV Iris 320
Iris 320 is a modified TGV train operated by SNCF International as a dedicated track recording train for high-speed railways. The train can run at and consists of two power cars and eight trailer coaches, providing a long laboratory. It was converted from former SNCF TGV Réseau passenger train number 4530. The train is primarily used for monitoring the whole of the French high-speed LGV network every 15 days. In addition it surveys other main lines in France operating at above and the HSL 1 high-speed line in Belgium for Infrabel. Once every two months, Iris 320 takes a survey of the Channel Tunnel for Eurotunnel (since December 2010) and of High Speed 1 for Network Rail (Channel Tunnel Rail Link) in the United Kingdom (since 4/5 May 2011). The TGV (french: Train à Grande Vitesse, "high-speed train"; previously french: TurboTrain à Grande Vitesse, label=none) is France's intercity high-speed rail service, operated by SNCF. SNCF worked on a high-speed rail network from 1966 to 1974 and presented the project to President Georges Pompidou who approved it. Originally designed as turbotrains to be powered by gas turbines, TGV prototypes evolved into electric trains with the 1973 oil crisis. In 1976 the SNCF ordered 87 high-speed trains from Alstom. China Railway Comprehensive Inspection Trains
China Railway comprehensive inspection trains, or CITs, are high-speed test trains used on the high-speed rail network of China and the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail in Indonesia are normally owned and operated by China Railway or the China Academy of Railway Sciences (CARS) and Kereta Cepat Indonesia China. CIT trains are equipped with special devices to monitor the conditions of the track, the wheel-rail force, a catenary-pantograph communications system, and a signal system. Stock is usually painted with yellow bands and the words "高速综合检测列车" (meaning "High-speed Comprehensive Inspection Train") are usually painted on the side. Doctor Yellow
is the nickname for the high-speed test trains that are used on the Japanese Shinkansen ("Bullet Train") dedicated express passenger train routes. The trains have special equipment on board to monitor the condition of the track and overhead wire, including special instrumented bogies and observation blisters. The "Doctor" part of the name is from their test and diagnostic function, and the "Yellow" part comes from the bright yellow color they are all painted. Some have a blue waistline stripe, some a green one. The original color scheme of yellow with a blue stripe (applied to the Class 921 track-recording cars) was created by reversing the colors (blue with yellow stripe) used on narrow-gauge track-recording cars. The New Measurement Train (NMT), also known as the ''Flying Banana'', is a specialised train which operates in the United Kingdom to assess the condition of Rail tracks, track so that engineers can determine where to work. It is a specially converted InterCity 125, consisting of five British Rail Class 43 (HST), Class 43 power cars and five or six British Rail Mark 3, Mark 3 carriages. It can check the condition of most main lines and some secondary routes operating on a four weekly cycle. Eurotunnel Class 0001
The Eurotunnel Class 0001 Bo-Bo diesel-electric locomotives were built by Maschinenbau Kiel (manufacturers designation DE 1004) between 1991 and 1992. They are very similar to the NS 6400 Class. When operating in the United Kingdom, the locomotives are assigned a TOPS classification as Class 21. History and design Five locomotives were built, numbered 0001–0005.
