SIA 9
The SIA.9 was an Italian reconnaissance-bomber built by Società Italiana Aviazione, a division of Fiat. Development The 9B began as the SIA.7B2 fitted with a much larger engine, the Fiat A.14. The larger engine increased the aircraft's speed, but also its weight, resulting in only an overall slight increase in maximum speed. The Italian Navy ordered 200, and received 62 by the end of World War I. Fiat dropped its SIA name, and manufactured another 129 aircraft under the designation Fiat R.2. Fiat Aviazione was an Italian aircraft manufacturer, at one time part of the Fiat group, focused mainly on military aviation. After World War I, Fiat consolidated several Italian small aircraft manufacturers, like Pomilio and Ansaldo. Most famous were the Fiat biplane fighter aircraft of the 1930s, the Fiat CR.32 and the Fiat CR.42. Other notable designs were the fighters CR.20, G.50, G.55 and a bomber, the Fiat BR.20. The SIA 7B was a biplane reconnaissance-bomber built by the Società Italiana Aviazione and served with the Italian ''Corpo Aeronautico Militare'' and American Expeditionary Force in 1917.
