Sport Club Atlético (first part, Portuguese meaning: "athletics", Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''SK Atlétiku'') is a football (soccer) club based in Ribeira Brava and plays in São Nicolau Island League and had played in the Premier division in Cape Verde. Its current head is Artemiza Ramos and its coach is Pirico who is since January 2017. Also its honorary president is António Manuel Santos. Its nickname is ''Encarnados'', the same nickname of Portugal's SL Benfica. Estádio João de Deus Lopes da Silva is a multi-use stadium in São Nicolau, Cape Verde. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home stadium of SC Atlético and Desportivo Ribeira Brava. The stadium holds 1,000 people. It is named for João de Deus Lopes da Silva. Its size is 105x68 m and its grass is artificial. The stadium remains to be one of the symbols of the island. The Taça de Cabo Verde (Portuguese for the Cape Verdean Cup, also as the Capeverdean Cup) is the main knock-out football tournament of the Cape Verde islands. It started in 1982, it was later revived in 2007 and is played annually. The competition features the winners of each island or regional cup competition and competes into two groups. History The first edition took place in 1982 and was only broadcast on radio, television broadcasts did not began until 1997, its first telecast of the cup competition began in 2007. The São Nicolau Island Opening Tournament (Portuguese: ''Torneio de Abertura de São Nicolau'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Turnéu di Abertura di San Nikolau''), is an opening tournament competition (equivalent to a league cup) played during the season in the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde The competition is organized by the São Nicolau Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de São Nicolau, ARFSN). Some seasons featured rounds of one portion, some seasons featured three rounds and two groups with the top club of each group in the final match. São Nicolau Super Cup
The São Nicolau Super Cup is a regional super cup competition played during the season in São Nicolau Island, Cape Verde. The super cup competition is organized by the São Nicolau Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de São Nicolau de Futebol, ARSNF). Its current champions is Ultramarina Tarrafal which now possess the most titles numbering six. The regional champion competes with the cup champion. If a champion also has a cup title, a cup club who is runner-up qualifies. The 2018 Super Cup will feature the champion Belo Horizonte from Juncalinho and the cup winner Ultramarina Tarrafal.
